May be a bit early... and I may be way off, projections as of now.
Plus, a question. I know seedings are not for a few weeks... but is there any talk about using QRF from Mn-Sports like in some other sports... Or will section coaches keep getting together and rank teams (not looking for a debate, just info:) for the seeds.

5. Albert Lea
6. Faribault
7. Le Sueur Co-op

GAMES FOR 1/29
Rochester Lourdes vs. Tartan
Mankato West vs. Albert Lea
New Prague vs. Farmington
Northfield vs. Chaska
Red Wing vs. Academy of Holy Angels
Faribault vs. Austin
Waseca vs. New Ulm
Picks are bolded. Lourdes and Tartan looks like a good match-up. Also, West hopefully gets back on track with a solid win tonight to stay in the Big 9 race.

I would put the second seed as a toss up between New Prague and West strictly by Strength of schedule. Too bad they don't play each other again during the regular season, the first game shouldn't be a factor in the seedings IMO.Gretzky9 wrote:My take right now:Jim9000 wrote:May be a bit early... and I may be way off, projections as of now.

I guess the second meeting of Lourdes and New Prague can better determine the second seed. I'd have it as this as of today -urban iceman wrote:I would put the second seed as a toss up between New Prague and West strictly by Strength of schedule. I don't want to put Red Wing so low, but I'd be shocked if they win five games by the end of the regular season... I can't in good conscious seed them higher than half the rest of the group. The best you can say is they tied New Prague, and their wins came over Shakopee and Farmington...

RESULTS FOR 1/29
New Prague over Farmington: 4-2
Northfield over Chaska: 4-3
Red Wing vs. Academy of Holy Angels: Postponed (until tomorrow I believe..?)
Faribault over Austin: 4-2
New Ulm over Waseca: 9-3
West vs. Albert Lea and Lourdes vs. Tartan scores provided in earlier post.
A quick question about Lourdes goaltending though - I see that Jack Burkel has been starting in the "bigger" games this season (St. Thomas, Benilde, Tartan) and has also been playing more frequently as of late. Is this a developmental piece? Or is the Lourdes starting spot open between Ellingston and Burkel?

You really thought Red Wing could beat Northfield. Red Wing is in a down year (rebuilding). I expect Red Wing to be at the top of the section next year and the following year.Ready2GoYet wrote:GAMES FOR 1/31

Red Wing will be down for a while... The upcoming players aren't that strong. I believe the bantam group has won two games this season, both over the Winona B teams (Red Wing is an A). Goaltending is also a major issue from here on out for the next three to four years.hockeyking wrote:You really thought Red Wing could beat Northfield. Red Wing is in a down year (rebuilding). It definitely wasn't an over the top pick. The past couple seasons Northfield has been the leader of the two teams. I had mentioned earlier in the season that the Wingers have issues closing out games - they were ahead in numerous games and ended up blowing the lead in the third period. Whether it be inexperience, laziness, or just youth, the Wingers have issues finishing the job and that showed with the last game.Ready2GoYet wrote:I thought Northfield might look past Red Wing--the Wingers were ahead after the 2nd period, so I don't think the pick was that over the top.

I don't know, inexperienced now, but the younger players are getting some good experience which will carry over to next year. I think RW may be in the top 4 in the section next year. We'll just have to see what next year brings.Roy01 wrote:Red Wing will be down for a while... The upcoming players aren't that strong.
