Last year boys tournament 2nd round game, Lakeville against BSM? On the girls side the worst I've seen in AA is 8-1 in a 3rd place game a few years ago.
As for A, last year South St. Paul had a 12-1 game against New Ulm. SSP is neither Warroad or Private. Actually many games against 3A end up with double digit goal differentials. I think that has a lot more to do with 3A than the opponent.

Maybe next year will be better, for one CDH should be a much better team next year. or maybe MV drops out of Sub East Conf and goes independent, they would be able to schedule alot more non conf games with high quality teams.
Not sure how it works to break free and become an independent team, maybe there is a waiting period - not sure.
Another alternative might be to not play every team in the conference twice. This is what the teams in the North Suburban Conference does to reduce the number of mismatches. Trouble is, the Suburban East is normally a lot stronger than it was this year. You could certainly argue that Roseville, Stillwater and White Bear Lake are all down compared to prior years. I'm sure these teams will rebound sooner rather than later, and as you note CDH looks like they will only get better over the next couple of years. So even if nothing is done it would appear that this year's weaker schedule will prove to be an anomaly.
The other thing MV might consider is playing in one of the other Holiday tournaments, like Kaposia, Eden Prairie's or Edina's ABRA, where they would be sure to elevate their non-conference schedule at least somewhat.
Great ideas.
Currently, MV plays in the SEC conference (10 teams) and is in Section 5. MV is the only SEC team in Section 5.
MV plays 18 SEC conference games. They played 3 games in Xmas tourney (including wins over Wayzata and Elk River). That leaves only 4 extra games against non-conference teams. Since MV is the only SEC team in Section 5, they need to play several Section 5 teams to establish seedings. Section 5 is not as strong this year.
Unless something changes (fewer conference games or section realignment) MV will rarely have an opportunity to play the stronger western suburban teams.

I think that 3 of the Top 10 AA teams are already out with at least 2 more to be eliminated this weekend. On the flip side, that means, barring any major upsets, you'll 5 of the Top 10 teams at State. Would have been nice to have 7 or 8 in the Top 10, but that's a subject for another thread.

The #1, #2, #4, #5, #6 and #13th ranked teams are left, of which, half will not be able to participate in state. Who will be the first to post how "overrated" these teams are??

Why would anyone argue that any of these 6 teams is overated if they lose since they will go down to another top team. Now, if Mounds View, Lakeville N, or NWC don't advance then then let the trash talk begin. Barring an upset of of one of these 3 teams, 7 of the 8 spots at state will be filled by top 15 teams. Also, 10 of the 15 teams still alive are ranked in the top 15. I don't think that's too bad.

MV #3 is still in the mix.
I'm sure no slight was intended. The reason for listing the above teams is that remaining section games have #1 playing #2, #4 playing #5 and #6 playing #13. It is unfortunate those games are happening this week.
Oh, I get is now...ha ha. I see Warroad/St. Cloud/Winnipeg/Little Falls/Fargo got in the tough "A" tourny again this year. Anybody else north of Elk River make it from that D16 Hockey hot bed this year? I have not been paying attention?

State Chump...relax, pay $17 and come down and watch the Metro AA state tournament, you may like it. Careful on your advice in St. Paul though...some people down there may take you up on it! Me...I'll pass!
