2013 Class AA Tournament

Post by Sparlimb »

1AA - Lakeville North
2AA - Eden Prairie
3AA - Eagan
4AA - Hill-Murray
5AA - Irondale
6AA - Minnetonka
7AA - Forest Lake
8AA - North Wright County

Better poll would have been who will win, Tonka or the rest of the field? I predict seeds like this

1. Minnetonka
2. Eden Prairie
3. Hill-Murray
4. Lakeville North
5. North Wright County

If your top four are set in that order, then I predict it will be Minnetonka vs. HM or EP. The HM : EP game settled in OT.

Tonka winning over a tired out runner up.

Not much of a random draw as it appears 6-8 were properly placed. Should be fun.

KRACH would give Forrest Lake the #8 seed and Irondale #7.

For all the moaning about section 6 getting jobbed it is a pretty good lineup. Other than Forest lake every team is in the top 16 or defeated a team in the top 16. 64 team brackets seldom do that well.

Maybe EP got a slight advantage then, but not much. I like the 5 top seeds instead of 4, since seeds 1-3 get rewarded with relatively easy games (still could be upsets), but seed 4 doesn't have the chance to play seed 8 while seed 1 might play seed 5 in the first games. If the quarter-finals go as (or close to) expected any of the top 4 or 5 teams could win it all.

EP defeated Tonka once this year and Lakeville North almost defeated Tonka at last year's state tourney. Nothing's a given.

Irondale beat a one loss Mounds View team that was ranked #1 for part of the year. Anything can happen. That said, Tonka is still a heavy favorite.

The main difference is many had questions if Mounds View was battle tested during the season. Tonka has the #1 Strength of Schedule, so I think you are comparing apples to oranges.
