Yah. Tough break for Jefferson. Not sure that tying goal should've counted and an interfearance call in a 4-4 game is pretty weak (relative to the game situation). Good game though and it was ALL Edina in the last 7 minutes of that game. Someone had to loseTooManyEagles wrote:No, it's 4-4 with 1:07 left, on a highly questionable goal call. Edina just drew a penalty, they'll have the PP for the rest of regulation.
Edit: 5-4 Edina, 49.7 seconds left.

While I agree that Edina dominated the last 7 minutes, it just sucks to watch the officiating have such an impact in the result. The 4th goal for Edina looked like it didn't fully cross the goal line and the penalty was a very questionable call with 1 minute left in a tied game. Chances were good that Edina was going to pull out the win with all the pressure they were putting on but it would have been more fun to watch that ending to this game. I kind of feel like Jefferson got the short end of the stick here because they were playing Edina.scorekeeper wrote:Yah. Tough break for Jefferson. I give the refs leeway on the goal that may or may not have trickled into the Jefferson net. It would have been close, and it's not always possible to see it that clearly as the play is going and as the goalie is basically laying on the puck.
The interference call was a bit more questionable, but there was no real reason to hit that guy from behind at that moment.
In any case, it was an entertaining game and JHS should hold their heads up.

Was at the Edina/Jefferson game and it was probably the best game I have watched all year. Jefferson played amazing but couldnt score on two 3rd period power plays, both inside 10:00 left in the game. Edina goal was a tough call, but here is the thing, there was a goal judge and the light went on. The ref actually waved the goal off initially, then talked to his partners, then talked to the goal judge. Seems like the goal judge made the call. Either way, it was very close and no one sitting in the stands can say whether it was a goal or not.
But for any of you who complain about the officiating or any of that crap bc its edina, just remember this, JEfferson was up 1 in the 3rd and had 3 straight power plays in the third, and the penalty in the final minute could have easily been a major as that has been called ALL year. Hats of to Jefferson and good luck to Edina.
