Class AA Championship Minnetonka v Hill-Murray

Post by Sparlimb »

Will be a very interesting game tonight. Lots of subplots:

* Tonka going for their third straight title
* Can Tonka recover after 6 OT's last night and 11 periods of hockey played in the past 48 hours
* Can Hill-Murray keep calm playing for their first state title.
* Will the juggling lines for HM gel in time(lost a top line forward to what looks like a broken arm on Thursday).

I do think the Tonka girls will be tired and the longer the game goes the more that will show. So the trick for HM is to not get buried early. If it is tied or a one goal game entering the 3rd, I like HM's chances. If Tonka is able to use first period energy to get up 2 goals, then I like their chances. Thoughts?

Good summary and assessment, Sparlimb. I generally agree although I would not have expected Tonka to surrender a 2-goal lead in the semi's.

Game at 7:00pm helps....a 3:00 championship would sting. We'll see, there is nothing Tonka has not seen in 3 years, now including 6 overtimes. I am curious to see they rebound myself!

Congrats to Tonka on the 3-peat. They were just too much for my HM team even after 6 OTs. 2nd place was much better than most expected for Hill and they return essentially the entire team. Next year it will have to be.

It was one of those games where the score was close but you never really felt like Tonka would lose it. I think it helped them slightly to have Hill as the opponent since they had no star offensive player that could really hurt them.

Apparently Si(y)dney is a popular name in the West metro area.
