Class AA Dominant favroites

Post by scorekeeper »

The favorite, lower seed, in the play-in games went a remarkable 5-0, without a single upset

Even more remarkable, through 24 quarterfinal games so far (8 to go), the favorite, lower seed, is an astonishing 23-1.

That's a combined total of 28-1 so far. Outstanding!

(Only upset to date is AV beating CDH)

If this holds up, Minnesota Coaches should pool their money and starrt a Las Vegas wagering syndicate. A simply outstanding job of seeding teams correctly, with only 1 upset through the first 29 games.

I find this especially interesting since 15 of the 16 #1 seeds (Class A & AA) last year advanced to the Excel Center.

Let's see if they continue with this amazing crystal ball and repeat the feat.

I suspect Saturday will screw things up a bit, as it usually does.

As always, Lee's PS2 has a fun feature where it compares the computerized rankings to the human seeds--looks like they've been in complete agreement so far: http://minnhock.com/boys2013.htm

Usually the computer wins, but the humans have pulled it out on occasion.

They haven't been in agreement, but have tied 3-3 in those six games featuring a differing opinion. (Thanks for tying it up, I Falls!)

Favorite Update: Still not a lot of upsets, as favorites (low seeds) are a staggering 45-5 through the 50 Class AA games played to date. So, a pretty impressive job of seeding by the coaches.

#2 seeds have been the most common victom, as 4 of the 5 favorites to be ousted have been the #2 seed (Tonka, CDH, Prior Lake & Mayo)

All 8 of the #1 Seeds remain

The only other Class AA team to be upset was #3 Tartan at the hands of Roseville in 4AA.

There are still 3 Sections in Class AA without an upset. 5AA, 7AA & 8AA

Section 1AA - Fav's (low seed) are 6-1.
Lone upset is #3 Lakeville South over #2 Mayo 3-2 in the semi's

Section 2AA - - Fav's (low seed) are 5-1.
Lone upset is #3 Burnsville over #2 Prior Lake 2-1 in the semi's

Section 3AA - - Fav's (low seed) are 6-1.
Lone upset is #7 Apple Valley over #2 CDH 4-2 in the quarters

Section 4AA - - Fav's (low seed) are 3-1.
Lone upset is #6 Roseville over #3 Tartan in the quarters

Section 5AA - - Fav's (low seed) are 4-0

Section 6AA - Fav's (low seed) are 6-1.
Lone upset is #3 Wayzata South over #2 Minnetonka 5-1 in the semi's

Section 7AA - Fav's (low seed) are 7-0

Section 8AA - Fav's (low seed) are 8-0

Two more favorites win today, WBL & HM. So lower seeds now 47-5

No big upsets yet this year and all #1 seeds still alive
