WHY CAN'T THE STATE TOURNAMENT GAMES START ON TIME?
Anybody else wonder why the first game of the day starts at 11:30 yesterday then today 11:25 today?? Hermantown game yesterday starts at 2. You think they could back up the pregame stuff and drop the puck right on time. any thoughts?? same with last night third period last game starts around 9:45?

Its standard, everyone knows the first set of games starts 20-25 min late.john2sco wrote:Anybody else wonder why the first game of the day starts at 11:30 yesterday then today 11:25 today?? The great announcers have to get the pregame stories in and announce the entire rosters also.

Yes that is true but back up 20-25 minutes start that at 10:35. then puck drops at eleven. Not a big deal except when I was at the games yesterday and had to be back up north by 6pm and would of made it if the game started on time.InYourFace09 wrote:Its standard, everyone knows the first set of games starts 20-25 min late.john2sco wrote:Anybody else wonder why the first game of the day starts at 11:30 yesterday then today 11:25 today?? It would help some in the late game too. One Hornet's little brother has a Bantam District game at 6 PM in New Prague tonight. He might miss the end of his brother's game.john2sco wrote:Yes that is true but back up 20-25 minutes start that at 10:35. then puck drops at eleven. I'm less concerned about when the games start than I am with the MSHSL being upfront about. Nineteen minutes after hour is the face-off, as was posted here on another thread and the MSHSL web site. First, 19 minutes is too long for at least 40 years the entire line-ups have been introduced in the quarterfinal round (and final). So that has little to do with it.
Years ago the starting times were (for afternoon) 12:00 and 2:15. Then at some point it became 12:00 and 2:45, which was pretty realistic. Then when the early session was bumped up to 11:00, they started putting the second game at 1:00. Total BS. No way that can happen.
Just say the start times are 11:19 and approx. 2:05.
A few years ago the start times were bumped up an hour so the late games would not go so late in an effort to be more family friendly. It was right around then the face offs were moved from around ten minutes after the hour (?) to the current 19. So the times were moved up an hour but were moved back too.
All sports that are broadcast must bow to the gods of TV.
