2013 Nostalgic Awards

Best Jerseys:

I'm always biased towards the dark jerseys, so here goes...

A- Duluth Marshall's always seems to work for me. Hermantown's too. As for light I'm going with STA. Marshall with the honorable mention. EGF=yuck!

AA- Moorhead, simple but effective. Eastview and Centennial as honorable mentions. I'm sure DE will be back on the list if they play with the dark.

Best goals:

Gonna go with Hurley's near side goal off the crossbar against North. I think that was the hat trick goal? Very little angle. Also Wayzata's tying goal against Centennial. Fake right, shoot left off the crossbar.

Best saves:

Dittmer's low glove save sprawled out against DE.

Best fans:

Need help with this one. Drawing a blank. Centennial's?
Kudos to the kid wearing the all green spandex, including the mask without eye holes.

Best band:

Not real sure. No one really stuck out for me in AA. Oddly, maybe Hill or Edina? No idea on A.

Best plays:

Novak's (STA) cycle away from the EGF defender at the point and comes in and hits the post. A thing of beauty.

Any input is appreciated.

Though Centennial was definitely best, the student sections not belonging to Moorhead or Lakeville North were all pretty strong...Special props for East's classic cheerleading squad and mascot....The entire rest of the league could take a lesson from their continued outstanding old school efforts with the band/cheer/mascot/student section ensemble....216 was nothing tonight...Zilch.

The rest of will have to wait, as there are two champeenship games to go. :)

Band I'm still leaning towards Edina's.

I must have missed that Connor Hurley goal against Eastview?

Best Jerseys:

Class A: STA
Class AA: Centennial

Best Goals:

Hurley's 3rd against Lakeville
Novak's goal in the 2nd against EGF

Best Saves:
Ditmmer's save against DE late in the 3rd to keep it at 1-0.
Dingmann's 2-0 breakaway save against Hill Murray last night.

Best Fans: Centennial, East, Wayzata in that order.

Worst Fans: STA- Beyond annoying, they never shut up the whole time saying stupid crap.

Hill Murray- "What's a Trojan" Really? "Are you stupid"

Best Band: Wayzata and Edina

Best Play: #15 Matthew Freytag's pass for the game tying goal for Wayzata against Centennial. That was a beauty.

I agree with a lot of WBLHockeyfan's picks; the Hill student section gets further negative points for use of "Daddy's money," and Malmquist's goal tonight might be one of the best.

Signs I've enjoyed:
-Hill's "Where's Besse?" sign in the title game tonight
-The East fan with an "It's a Trapp" sign with the Star Wars character on it
-The random guy holding a sign saying "Holding a sign!"

Best goals I would add Hurley's and Novak's game winner. After tonight it is clear to me Edina has the best band, and they have gone into the category of best fans too with Centennial and Wayzata.

-The random guy holding a sign saying "Holding a sign!"

Yeah, that one gets an award.

Must get mentioned: someone in the Edina student section with one that said "Hi, Tonka."

I think that sign was in the Wayzata student section
They shared it, Edina kid brought it then gave it to the Wayzata kids
