I still cannot believe Section 3A has accumulated 19 pages of comments. We're talking about Section 3A! Not 3AA, not even a good A section, but 3A. Lock it up!

Congratulations to the seven Luverne kids that were selected all conference.
Maxwell, Meyer, Wenniger, Norman, Olson, Solma, and Smedsrud. Four of them will be back next year to earn the conference title.

Must have been the poor coaching

Here it the story from the Marshall Independent

Boys' hockey

Despite a banner year for the Tigers boys' hockey team, which saw them make their first trip to the state tournament in program history, and a first-place split with the Luverne Cardinals; it was Luverne who was rewarded with the lion's share of all-conference accolades.

Marshall and Luverne finished with identical 8-2 records in the conference, each beating the other once during the regular season. The Tigers knocked off the top-seeded Cardinals in the Section 3A quarterfinals 5-3, as well, but picked up seven all-conference awards to Marshall's four. Luverne's spilt was five all-conference and two honorable mentions, while Marshall was two and two.

Seniors Beau Mikel and Quinn Horvath picked up Marshall's all-conference nods, while fellow seniors Austin Leek and Corey Clark were honorable mentions.

Also honored by the conference were two of the state's top scorers during the season in Windom's Travis Janssen and Morris/Benson's Tanner Picht.

7 All Conference ??? Wow (That is a lot for any team in any league)

But even more crazy 7 players selected and Toby Sengvongxay is NOT on the List.....

Kid was a Sophomore Dman had like 43 points in only 21 games played. Was a Top 20 MN Reebok HP 15 Select, Played Elite D League this fall. I love the way this kid skates he has a jump that just STOOD OUT!

How does he not make All-Conference .... Wow got to wonder how this kid was not put up?

Goes to show how the SW conference coaches felt about the Luverne team. Picht and Janssen are quality players. Whether or not TS qualified, he is still the best player in the conference.

Somewhat puzzled by the Marshall picks however. Campion? McVey? Were they not eligible either?

Happy for the well deserving Luverne players.

Thanks for the info was going to say the Toby kid has a very nice skill set for SW Minnesota Hockey.

Ok my other big Grip NO CAMPION huh?? Kid is a beast not sure on that one??

As far as woodpencil goes and this goes back to to the SiouxSucks comment on dominate Luverne Senior Class.....
Luverne will bring back some nice players
They Return Toby and I also saw in another thread they had another D-man playing Gopher State. Excuse my spelling I think I think its a Frokus I have seen his name before on HP Elite Spring Festivals lists. They bring back nice forwards in Norman, Olson, Smedsrud. They have a 3 year starter in Meyer in the nets coming back. They have some good younger players too (They have a Stud in the Youth). I am not saying they are going to be terrible just they will lack a direction you need to have to compete at the highest level. (I hope that is ok to say Karl)... Dont want to get the thread locked.

Hutch and New Ulm play real teams all year and will have loads of talent coming back . They will be heads above the rest. Hutch needs Goaltending help New Ulm needs better d-man help. Whichever can cure the weakness faster will be the Lead Dog in 13-14 season.

Dont count out Willmar or LDC both play real teas as well and will be there in the end. LDC has grit and really good tending but they lost a ton to graduation. Willmar lost their two leading scorers, Their 2nd best Dman and their Goalie. But everyone returns they will have around 14 seniors next year! They have a great Coach and will compete.

Dont Sleep on Marshall Campion will carry them and Coach Ammerman will have Windom being pesky as always.

NEW ULM and Hutch..... Then Willmar and LDC... Dont count out Marshall!

aaahhhh......?????? does Marshall even have enough skaters to make one good line? Who is going to even be left on the team? From what I have seen of their Bantams and select 15 tryouts, then have absolutely nothing coming up. The Marshall kids wouldn't even make the third line of the Luverne team. One good goalie is meaningless.

Hutch will be tough next year, but Luverne will beat them again. Good competition for the Luverne kids. New Ulm needs to play Luverne next year. Luverne will be back stronger than ever. Morris will be weak next year also as they are losing some very good skaters.

A lot will happen between this spring and next fall. Look to Luverne as having many kids skating and competing all summer long. Marshall, well better just hang out on the golf course.

Another steaming pile from 3A. It's painfully obvious that you have no damn idea what your talking (you don't even spend the time to figure out names of the players you claim to know so much about) Why don't you spend the Summer boning up on your facts and then continue inserting your foot in your mouth next Winter, eh?

Since the season is over, and most those on this topic have nothing better to do than bash coaches, players or other programs, I'm locking this.

Next October a new topic for the 2013-14 season can start. Until then, take some deep breaths and try to recall what's really important.
