6AA 2013-2014?

Post by MegaMan »

With Gavin Payne going to Minnetonka, Eden Prairie returning a great group of guys, BSM reloading after losing the big 3, and Wayzata coming back stronger than ever, i was curious as to how you all think 6AA will go this year.

I'd put Tonka in front of Holy Family. Who is the goaltender for BSM? The other 4 all have solid, proven goalies. Could be a problem for the Red Knights.

Agree with BP's pre-season rankings for 6AA

When was the last time Tonka did not host a 6AA QF game?

Not sure why Wayzata is such a shoe in...everyone has figured out how to work around shot blocking now, and they are top heavy with only one line...

If you're not so sold, what're your preseason rankings for the the top 5?

I can't argue that they have a great first line coming back, and probably the best goalies, but yet unproven and a bit over rated? EP lost it's back up goalie and isn't as star studded, BSM lost a lot, but may actually have more balanced scoring this year as well as great "D", and most likely good goaltending. HF (no Gersich) and Tonka (I know least of)...most likely fight for the bottom.

Last time Tonka finished lower than 3rd....

Their demise has been predicted before.

Section 6 will be much more even this year than in years past. Wayzata has 1 stong line and no proven goalie, BSM has a couple good players but no goalie, EP has some solid players and OK goalies, Tonka same as Wayzata, Holy Family Ok players good goalie. I think section 6 is up for grabs this year.

It looked like the returning goalie for Wayzata was pretty good last year?

Wayzata, EP, Tonka and HF all have a solid goalie.

Last time I checked, it takes 3 forwards to make up a line combo in hockey

Berger split time last year, and had good numbers. Plays Elite Leage for SW now. He made National Camp as a 16. He's as good as the #1 guy any of the listed 6AA contenders.

Number 1 is Wayzata. Experienced, depth and really good incoming group of Bantams. Goalie is highly regarded.

Number 2 is Benilde. Couple higher end players and would expect them to have depth. Experience in every position but goalie.

Number 3 is Eden Prairie. They could take over number two spot but gave them 3rd position because they lack the scoring of BSM. Solid team and has the potential to advance all the way to St. Paul.

Number 4 is Holy Family. Very good goalies. Lack depth.

Number 5 is Minnetonka. Will be young and lack experience. One incoming player can't make up for experience deficit.

Tonka usually has a superior program. I would be very surprised it they ended up at the back of the pack like you are suggesting.

Couldn't it be argued Tonka has the best goalie of the bunch? Even if so it may not be enough, but I'd be surprised to see them seeded as low as 5th.
