There are quite a few teams in the elite divisions that I have never heard of.

Thats because entering your regular elite team isnt good enough anymore. You have to combine the "real" elite players from your elite team and other elite teams and really make an elite team. If your regular team doesnt have a chance to maybe win then why play. Thats the thinking. Its stupid. The word "team" has no meaning in summer hockey. It should be called a "group of individuals" instead of a team. Unfortunately some coaches dont understand that kids would rather play with their "teamates" and win and lose a few games. Then play with kids they dont know and lose anyway.

The funny thing is none of these thrown together teams ever perform well or finish well.

I think you are WAY over generalizing. I am not saying that your scenario doesn't exist but the isntances of it and your reasoning behind it are way off base. SOme of the new teams are just that, new teams. New teams occur when the status quo is no longer acceptable. So that accounts for some of it. Some of the teams are made up of kids who 80% of them are on the same team but 20% of their teammates couldn't come because it is summer time so they recruit some kids just to make a team so the 80% can play but they don't want to use their regular team name since it is not truly their team but they did make an opportunity for a bunch of kids who wanted to play. Another reason is that there are some kids playing on Open level (or worse) wummer teams that are very capable of playing at an elite or invite level, so putting together a team outside their normal team is an opportunity for them to play at a higher level and egt a taste of what else is out there. You guys in the cities get a warped and twisted view and understanding what it's liek out here in the rest of the hockey world, not everyone has the "riches" of players that the metro area has, sometimes you piece together a team as best you can just to give kids an oportunity, and what's wrong with that????

I know I m generalizing, but there is fact behind my generlizations. I agree with you, your senarios do happen. although that is not the case with some of the teams in the tourneyment, and I know it for a fact.

I give Euro credit. from my experience they make a team and thats the team they play with and enter into all their tournys. In the "big" tournys you have to dump the lower 2-5 kids and then bring in the studs and put a different jersey on. Thats more of my experience.
