National Championships don't grow on trees. When was the last time NoDak won one? How about Denver? How about CC, SCSU, Notre Dame, Miami-Ohio, etc.....

Don won back-to-back championships and has led the Gophers to a few other Frozen Fours. He has a .638 winning percentage during his tenure. Conference and Conference Tournament championships aren't as good as National Championships (I don't see where anyone said they were), but they aren't meaningless either.

If Don keeps putting the Gophers in a position to succeed, the championships will come. It doesn't ALL fall on the coaches. And as Slap Shot said, sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the competition.

Gophers need to play Home games on NHL rink vs International rink. When comes to playoffs most if not all Sweet 16 games are on an NHL size rink where speed makes less of a difference.

While NCAA titles is the ultimate measure, the Gophers did get to the Frozen Four two seasons ago (as well as winning the league title outright that season). I'm not sure how that equates to tailing off. :?:

Last year the Gophers only lost six games after December 1st. I wouldn't say that is bad either. CC played a great defensive minded game at the Final 5 (although the Gophers out shot them almost 2 to 1 in the game) and the eventually national title winner (Yale) barely got by the Gophers with an OT win in the NCAAs. It's not like the Gophers fell apart.

Hakstol hasn't won any NCAA titles in his nine years as head coach at UND despite his teams generally being given credit for being better in the second half of the year than they are in the first half.

The reality is it often times comes down to getting hot at the right time in the NCAAs. I doubt anybody would say Yale was the best team all year long. If they had been, they would have been better than a #4 seed entering the NCAAs. But they played great when it mattered and earned the title.

Aren't you a UND fan anyway?

Pitlick has an incredible skillset. He will prove just like Cammaratta, Kloos, Rau, etc that size will not be a deciding factor in his success.
