Last reported score this evening:
Blake 2, Irondale 0
Blake’s Karlie Lund’s two goals were all her team needed to skate past Irondale at the Knight’s home ice at the Super Rink in Blaine. Blake’s goaltender Anna Kruesel stopped all 23 shots that Irondale put on net to earn the shutout victory.
This was another tough game for our panel to predict. Irondale, by a slight 14-12 margin, was the narrow favorite to win this game. There were, however, two of our prognosticators – blondegirlsdad and clutterbucket – both newcomers/rookies this year – who got the 2-0 score right to earn the bonus.
So, with 6 of 18 games in the books so far this week, here are our early “Big Games” leaders:
1. 36Guy – 7 points
D6 Girls Fan – 7
Blondegirlsdad – 7
Nordic – 7
clutterbucket – 7
6. Silent But Deadly - 6
7+....

I would rely on Hockey Hub at this point. Some people that enter scores are not even aware that there are now two sites. I found that out when going to enter the stats on MGHCA only to find the other team had not yet entered a roster making stat entry unavailable.Nordic wrote:Why does the Star Trib Hockey Hub show the Wayzata vs Apple Valley game being played today, with Wayzata winning 10-1, the game does not even show up on the MGHCA site today or tomorrow, this is the lone game on the pool for Wednesday? Just wondering....

Sorry about the lopsided result, AV. As you would expect, nobody in our weekly contest came close to predicting that score. But all 26 did pick Wayzata to win the game and add one point each.AV dad wrote:I attended the AV-Wayzata game last night, and it pains me to confirm that the score really was 10-1 for Wayzata.
Heading into tomorrow's two games here is your updated Leaderboard. Those with 8 points picked the winners in all seven games so far, with one correct score to their credit. Silent But Deadly also got them all right, but is without a correct score.
1. 36Guy – 8 points
D6 Girls Fan – 8
Blondegirlsdad – 8
Nordic – 8
clutterbucket – 8
6. Silent But Deadly - 7
7. Ten tied with 6
17. Five tied with 5
22. Five tied with 4
Interesting that so far "Conventional Wisdom" (CW) has 5 points. In two of the games the average predicted scores by our group resulted in ties, which did not pan out. CW did, however, get the score right in the Hopkins/Achiever Academy game.

Correction: Please note that tomorrow (Thursday) there will be FOUR "Big Games" played, not just the two as shown in my first post. Two of the three games shown under Friday in my first post are actually Thursday games! These are Edina vs. Eagan and Wayzata vs. Bloomington Jefferson. This leaves just the Warroad vs. Lakeville South game on Friday. As with the Apple Valley vs. Wayzata game, the dates for these two were entered incorrectly on the MGHCA site when this week's schedule was put together. It won't change the contest in any way, as all the games will still be played. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Thursday, November 14
As of 10:15, three of Thursday night’s four games are in, but no game detail is yet available. An updated Leaderboard will be posted once the Wayzata/Jefferson score is posted.
#4AA Eden Prairie 4, #18AA Lakeville South 1
20 of 26 had EP winning, and there were FOUR correct scores! (Otter, sinbin, D6 Girls Fan and hockeybozo).
#5AA Edina 3, #19AA Eagan 3
All 26 posting their predictions predicted an Edina victory, but with the tie everybody struck out on this one. Congrats to the Wildcats on holding the favored Hornets to an OT draw.
#2A Blake 8, NR Apple Valley 3
19 of 26 pick up a point, but no correct scores.

In tonight's only game it was:
Lakeville South 3, Warroad 1
And once more there is "NO PLAYER DATA AVAILABLE" so I can't comment on who scored, the shots totals, etc. Sure hope they get this fixed in the near future!
The 21 of 26 who favored the Cougars picked up at least a point, with 4 of these 21 being wise (or lucky?) enough to predict the 3-1 score and earn the bonus. Those four consisted of Knight7, capitalpride, Nimrod and wolfman.
So, heading into tomorrow's final five games which will conclude Week 1, here are your point totals:
1. D6 Girls Fan – 12 points
Clutterbucket – 12
3. 36Guy – 11
capitalpride – 11
sinbin – 11
blondegirlsdad – 11
Nordic – 11
8. MNHockeyFan – 10
D16Dad – 10
Pens4 – 10
FlyingWarrior – 10
Silent But Deadly – 10
spars46 – 10
wolfman - 10
15. Otter - 9
Nimrod - 9
hockeyfan87 - 9
hockeybozo - 9
19. Six tied with 8
25. Two with 7
P.S. CW now has 10!

P.S. Just a heads up to everyone: I'm about to head down to Ridder to watch the Gopher women's game...forget offhand Whioux they play
but I'm hoping The Streak continues. Then I'm walking across the alley to see the men's game, point being that I won't be able to tabulate our results here until late tonight or, if I'm in a real bad mood, tomorrow morning...
Go Gophers!

Great day of hockey today both at Ridder and Mariucci! (sorry to all the UND and MSU fans out there).
I won't give the scoring recaps because it's late so let's get right to it.
Warroad 1, Minnetonka 2
24 of 26 had Tonka winning, with one predicting a tie. "sandbagger sinbin", hockeybozo and your humble correspondent managed to guess the 2-1 score.
Cretin-Derham Hall 0, Lakeville North 3
Similarly, 22 of 26 picked the winner (with one saying tie) and in this one there were two correct scores, this time by 36Guy and capitalpride.
Eagan 2, Breck 3
This one was more hotly contested, with 16 getting the winner and one forecasting a tie. An impressive five prognosticators got the score right: Otter, D16Dad, sinbin (again), D6 Girls Fan and Nimrod.
Blaine 3, Andover 2
Same exact split (16-9-1) as the Eagan/Breck game, but this time just one lucky guy (ME!
) who guessed the score. Oh yeah, 3-2 was the average score too, so CW also picked up the bonus, his second on the week.
And to wrap it up in a game that was closer than most thought it would be it was:
Dodge County 2, Benilde-St. Margaret's 3
All but one got the winner right but only one got the score...Otter!
In what turned out to be a race until the very end, it was - you guessed it - "sandbagger sinbin" who finished - all alone! - on top. Congratulations sinbin on winning the Week 1 title!
1. sinbin - 18 (14 of 17 + 4 correct scores)
2. MNHockeyFan - 17
(14 of 17 + 3)
36Guy - 17 (15 of 17 + 2)
clutterbucket - 17 (16 of 17 - the best percentage, but just one correct score - great job!)
5. capitalpride - 16
D6 Girls Fan - 16
7. Otter - 15
D16Dad - 15
blondegirlsdad - 15
Silent But Deadly - 15
wolfman - 15
12. Nimrod - 14
Pens4 - 14
Nordic - 14
hockeybozo - 14
FlyingWarrior - 14
17. Orange_Wisent - 13
spars46 - 13
19. Four with 12
23. Two with 11
25. Two with 10
Note: CW finished with 15 points!
I hope we can get such great participation for Week 2 - the new set of games will posted momentarily!
