Can someone shed some light why MN has no public Div III school for hockey? Private schools are only option in state is a $30-45k annual tuition?

My guess is that the state schools that would be prime targets (Mankato, St Cloud, Bemidji, Duluth) all have D1 programs. The other public schools that could be in the mix are limited (Winona, SW MN, Moorhead). There just don't seem to be many that are feasible.

While the published price for the MIAC schools is $30k-$45k, they do a nice job of providing academic and need-based scholarships. The tuition will most likely still be higher than some of the public school options, but it can bring the cost down significantly.

Finally, consider looking east to WI. They have a number of schools (Eau Claire-ranked #5, River Falls, Stout, Superior and Stevens Point-ranked #5) that offer a good education, D3 hockey and reasonable tuition.
