I think that the SSC game of the day is Eastview at Burnsville.

Hate to say it, but I'm thinking Driscoll brings his A game and EV BY 3 (EN)

1-0 St. Thomas over Tonka after 1
Broetzman with the goal for STA
Shots looked like 15-4 for STA hard to tell though with the feed.
Pretty one-sided play in favor of STA. They had 3 PP in the first

2-1 STA over Tonka after 2
Tonka came out much better compared to the 1st and the play was pretty even I would say
#19 Tufto scored for STA
#18 Klein for Tonka
shots were 11-10 in favor of STA that period for a total of 26-14 for STA

STA wins 4-1 over Tonka
STA controlled play in the 3rd
Novak and Verscich scored in the 3rd
shots ended in the 3rd being 13-7 i believe they said with a total being 39-21

My thoughts on the game was that STA's speed overmatched the Tonka defenders along with some sloppy play for Tonka when breaking out of there own zone made them struggle. They were also whiffing on a lot of shots where they could of had some great chances so I'm not so sure what happened there. St. Thomas as a whole looked good with all the power plays they were given, moving the puck well, getting good chances. My one knock on them from tonight was they were trying to "dangle" too much. If Tonka's defenders were playing the body more on these 1 on 1 match ups more instead of swiping after the puck this game could have ended up much different. Against a more physical team I think STA could struggle because about half of there entries into Tonka's zone were by walking around a defender and against a more physical team they will step up and regain control of the puck. STA appeared to be a small team too so I think there weakness will be physicality.
Individually I was impressed with Versich a lot I thought he showed good passing and generating good chances. Tommy Novak was Tommy Novak and he is always impressive to watch. Those 2 plus Broetzman on the top line is definitely one of the better Trios I have seen this year.

Tonka lacks its normal offensive dynamic players from the past and on defense they seem to be a bit passive. The goaltending I thought was Solid they had Hanson playing and I had no complaints about him and along with a quality starter in Berger I think thats a solid pair. If they plan on going deep in the playoffs I think the corrections will have to come defensively and play sort of like Wayzata has been the last year and into this year in the fact that they have really nobody thats gonna put on a offensive show, they don't have a player like Coatta or Lettieri. There goaltending might be good enough to help them steal some games if there D tightens up and can break the puck out better.

Roseau 3
Moorhead 0

Final

The Sheep were due to win one in this series - last time they did was 3 years (7 games) ago. They looked good, out-hustled the Taters & had a very stingy defense. They controlled their own slot so well, all the Spuds could do was shoot from outside & got very few rebounds.

Kudos to the Sheep, who made it a long nite for some of us.

Breck 7 AHA 6 in OT.
I did not think Breck was a good team, certainly not a number 2 team. Yes they had a lot of shots, but most were rebound shots.
So AHA got destroyed by HF, played to a tie with STA, TG and lost in OT to Breck.
Maybe they are not as bad as most people let them on to be....They are a team, not an individual. Let's wait and see

Oh props to Mains in goal for AHA, he is playing so much better and if the rebounds are less they will surprise...I am a homer.

With every right to be a HOMER.

Go AHA!
