Looks like a very shaky debut for the Sophomore Nelson giving up 11 if the HUB is right... Which you never know.

LDC gets handled by Mound Westonka 6 to 2

Willmar gets upset in the final 10 seconds by a below average Sauk Rapids 6 to 5.

Luverne is able to survive an early scare against Windom (tied 0-0 after One Period) to knock off Windom 9 to 0

Redwood Valley gets hammered by Prairie Center 8 to 2

Worthington knocks off Fairmont 5 to 3 in what looks like the best game of the night in Section 3A.

Some very surprising results!

Surprising? To whom?

Not to mention how ludicrous it is to blame an 11-0 "Hammering" on goaltending! Darn goaltenders should be able to keep the dang puck out of the net WHILE ALSO scoring for their "Team"!

Didn't mean to hammer on the goalie they were beaten as a team anytime you get beat 11 to 0 it is a team loss. Was just saying for all those who are quick to blame Allen as the problem looked like a shaky debut for the Sophomore. As Allen's Dad said on here maybe it is more to do with a poor dzone system then just the goalie.

Willmar losing their top goalie makes more sense on their score. They will struggle without him in the net. Here is hoping for a speedy recovery!

As I look back, it looks like you were the one pretty quick to throw the goalie under the bus. Couldn't possibly be the solid D core, or the superstar forwards you've been going on and on about...

With Goosmann, I believe Willmar is the best team in the section. Any responses?

We will find out on 11 January at BMIA in Luverne MN who the best team in section 3A is.
Hopefully Goosmann is ready to strap em up that day.
They all better strap em on tight.

notTONIGHT, I believe we will find out the best in the section come March. Hopefully our beloved Cardinals show up to play when it matters most for once.

GAMES TONIGHT: My predictions

Benson takes on Prairie center… Prairie Center takes it.

Windom takes on Fairmont… Windom takes it.

New Ulm takes on Waseca… Will be close, New Ulm will end up taking.

Willmar takes on Apollo… Willmar will need to put up 5 on a solid goalie in order to win, Apollo wins.

Luverne and Worthington… Luverne easily takes.

Did I miss any?

Looks pretty good, Except i think New Ulm will beat Waseca with little struggle. New Ulm is better than I initially thought......... I think :?:

I just saw Smedsrud, Norman, and Nelson are top three in the state for points with 34,31,30. Holy cow. Granted try play a weaker schedule but still. That's crazy, a sophomore leading the state and an EIGHTH GRADER THIRD in the state for points!! I can't wait to go down Luverne to watch them play Willmar

That is pretty cool.

I see that they are beating teams by a large margin this year! One thing I noticed about Luverne stats is that they have scored the most goals in the 3rd period, do they call off the dogs? Toby had a hat trick in the 3rd period tonight  They won 11-1

Luverne is developing bad habits, (cant wait for trout to run with that one) so "calling off the dogs" would really enhance these poor tendencies. I think every fan of Luverne is pretty concerned about the bad habits being exposed saturday. Hopefully they show up ready to play. The weak schedule really does nobody any good, and hurts Luverne in the long run.

What would you have them do? These conference games against "B" teams arent going away. Having the kids hungry for winning battles and earning points as a bi-product appears to be the option chosen. May not be the best for the hearts and minds of the weaker "B" teams, but frankly, thats not Luverne's problem. Fourth line played a lot of minutes tonight.

I'm not sure. Who have they played though really? Besides Minnehaha. Morris, windom, Worthington, redwood, and Fairmont are all quite brutal. Marshall and Litchfield were quality section wins though

Right now Luverne is in a no win situation....

They play in a brutal area and conference for hockey. Worthington, Windom, Redwood and Morris are among the weakest teams in the states and they are forced to play them twice.

If they only win 6 to 0 people (Like me :D ) question if they are any good or that it shows they are weak because they didnt blow them out. If they clobber teams people like Chalk Talk step in and say they shouldn't do that and are running it up.

They have a no win situation. So far they have been very balanced scoring 25 goals in the 1st 25 goals in the 2nd and 27 goals in the third as a team. So saying they score most their goals in the third I don't think Chalk Talk did any research there. ( I am in no way defending Luverne just pointing out the Stats)

I am still not totally sold on this group and like notTonight pointed out they are only getting bad habits by playing the poor schedule they do. I think they will be in trouble on Saturday Achiever Academy why not a power is better then Minnehaha. I think we find out alot more about Luverne after the next few stretch of games.

So far they have taken care of their business. Have to see what happens.

LDC scored 6 goals in the third when they hammered Windom earlier this season 10-2 where was Chalk Talk then. Just showing that Luverne is not the only team in this section guilty of that.

I must be missing something? All I said is that that have scored the most goals in the 3rd period, is that wong? I did the same amount of research you did. Over half of the games Luverne has played has been in running time in the 3rd. I'm not ripping them, i just not see the 4th line or the 3rd set of D putting up points in the 3rd period. Instead their top D-man has a trick?? And I'm rooting for the cards!

I think you need to do some research on the game of hockey. Please tell what other research I should have done.
