One of the quarterfinal games of the Schwan Cup, the winner plays the winner of Breck and Edina.

Good luck to both teams.

Honest question, what pros or advantages does sheehy have by leaving early this year? Boese (sp?) Got to wisco staying put, and sheehy could have had many elite d1 schools to pick from had he stayed?
What is his and his parents logic? Again, I am not trolling or inciting an argument, I am just curious as to what the big incentive is to leave?
There seems to be a lot of incentives to stay for your normal hs kid.

Going directly to campus next year rather than juniors next yr. Also, why only Sheehy and not the coaches kid who left early and already has committed to CC?

To answer the question about the coaches kid, I am not sure who you are talking about.

I don't follow HS hockey all that closely, so Sheehy was one of the few names I was familiar with.

Thanks for the answer about getting to campus a year earlier though. That does make sense. I am sure each kid and their family have different reasons for going or staying. I was just curious what was the upside in going during the player's Sr. year, and not waiting to play junior a year post HS.

Thanks for the response.

to 5thgrader.. I am not sure what you are getting at?
Is that sarcastic?

I never made the claim that the level of competition in HS was up to the level played in the USHL.

I understand that playing against a better level of competition will make one a better player. But why during HS, and not after?

Its not right or wrong, I am just curious the reasons why to go, when you consider everything from hockey, to everyday normal HS kid activities.

In short, it is the want to play in college earlier. In general, kids are told they will need at least one year of juniors. The thought process is to play that year while a senior then play college as a true freshman.

Would they likely be more developed with senior year HS + one year of juniors than one year of juniors in lieu of senior year HS? Likely.
Plus, many end up playing two years of juniors instead of the one they intended.

Thank you HSHockeyWatcher.

That makes good sense, and I am sure plenty of kids want to get to college and college life as soon as they can. (I know I sure did) :D

In my experience, many times, the kid could care less where he plays.

The parents on the other hand..............
