2-1 after one, but Nanne takes a 5 minute major with a few seconds left in the period. He's a fine hockey player, but it seems like he does some out of control things every time I watch him.
Otherwise, Hill is carrying more of the play, but has gotten burned twice in transition. The Slattery-French-Krueger line has to be one of the state's best, along with Burnsville and STA's top lines. Edina does seem to have the edge when we get down to the 3rd lines and D pairs, though.

End of 1
Edina 2 Hill 1
Shots are favoring Hill with an advantage of 11-4
The start of the period was all Hill as they bottled edina in there zone and kept edina without a shot for probably 7 minutes. unfortunately for Hill the first shot was a goal that came from a 2 on 1. The odd man rush came from one of the best chances hill had which was a 2 on 1 of there own.
After that goal Hill scored 2 minutes later and Edina scored shortly after that. It was very back and forth for this part of the period.
Hill took a penalty after the 2nd edina goal. The edina players were upset. Slattery tripped Nanne with his knee and it was deserving of a minor but some edina players were very upset and wanted more. Nanne had a lot of words for slattery after and he was clearing upset because with 9 seconds he hit kruger and got a major penalty but I thought it was bad call. He in my eyes clearly hit his shoulder and not in his back. Kruger was hit hard and went down and got hurt but it was his leg that was hurt and not his back or anything that would make it seem like a hit from behind. I thought this was just a bad call but maybe im bias.
Anyways it has been a fast paced game after the first couple minutes where hill put pressure in edina's zone.
Been very exciting.

The 2nd was pretty chippy, with lots of penalties, though the lone goal was at even strength. Hill evened up the score on a beautiful goal (French from Slattery). Edina's PK is superb; Hill didn't have much of any chances on the Nanne major, which included some 5-on-3 time. The Foley-Fuss D pair in particular does a fine job.
Otherwise, this period was a little more even than the first in terms of shots and chances, but Hill still had the edge in play. I might be climbing on the Slattery for Mr. Hockey bandwagon. He isn't without his weaknesses--he spent a little too much time trying to stickhandle through people on the major--but he does some exquisite things out there. He never has a shift where you don't see him trying to create something.
I'd say that whoever stays out of the box will have the edge in the 3rd, but neither PP has been particularly effective. Edina's most recent PP was its best, but before that, it had looked pretty poor. I'm not a fan of having Malmquist on the point.

I agree on the Edina PP. Why take one of your best scores and move him far away from the net? I think Nanne could clearly head the umbrella. Good hands and speed to get back if needed. Also have liked the way Edina's goalie has played. Was criticized last week but is steady night in and night out playing in big game against real competition.

Edina wins 4-2 (with an EN with 1 second to go).
Edina played its best period of the game in the 3rd, and did a good job of bottling up Hill and limiting them to relatively few chances. Rohkol did indeed play well. The GWG came off a little scrum in front of the Hill net, and it took a while for the Pioneers to get any momentum back after that.
All in all, two pretty even teams, though each has some things that could use some work. They'll meet again in two weeks, and I sure wouldn't be shocked if they played a third time in March.
That's the Hornets' first Schwan Cup title since 2008...we'll see if they can avoid the fate of most Schwan Cup winners.
