Major
That is not the point, true whoever comes out my go two and out. That is not the point. The point is that this is a message board, people give their opinions on whatever the topic may be. The topic on this perticular thread is "who will win section 2A". Not who is going to make it to the show and go 2 and out. That doesnt matter. Why would you even click on a thread that doesnt matter to you just to rip on the teams. Do you get your jollies on ripping on Small town schools, and crushing their dreams of making the state tournament? If you do I suggest you seek Psychiatric help.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Go get-em ptown!!! Major, go crawl back to where ever you came from. Of course, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one, but some just smell worse than others.... 2-and-out?? We'll see.

There's something very interesting about the game of hockey, and that's the fact that it has to be played by two teams, and quite frankly when they drop the puck it doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks, it's all about some kids playing their hearts out and trying to win the game. Hey, who knows, maybe the 2003 MN State Class A team will come from section 2A... Could happen...... but I'm not predicting it... (yet...)

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Isn't it embarrassing that section 2a's one or two seed got absolutely dominated by section 8a's seven seed. Man that section is worse that section four.

Re: Depth
OK, my prediction is that although Tuesday's game between SCC and Princeton will be important, it's not going to be as important as when they meet in the playoffs..

The team with the strongest three lines will win this section. I don't think two lines will do it this year, like in years past. Any team is going to need a strong defense, at least 4 solid players back there, and three lines that can play both ends of the ice....

I still think that comes down to Princeton and SCC, but Sartell can be a surprise if either of their goalies plays out of their minds, which they can...

Mora is the BIG sleeper, but I just don't think that they can count on two players and a (very good) goalie..

Sauk will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to get past round 2, but then again, that's why they drop the puck like I said in my last post.

Whatever.....
Detroit Lakes of course new that they needed to shut down Sauk Rapids' only weapon in Ryan Peckscamp. During Sauk's peak earlier in the season, I could guarantee Sauk would have beaten DL. Without Striet, Peckscamp has nothing to work with. Wocken logs to many minutes, and Peckscamp gets all the attention. Sauk's unfortunate injuries are really hurting them come playoff time. It is true Section 8A has to be one of the top A sections. I would say 5A is the best then 8A, followed close by 7A. I do think that 6A plays 2A the first round of the tourney. And when Warroad wins their first game, maybe the 2A team will win beat Orono, there will be a battle between Warroad and 2A. I'd still put a fair share of my money on Warroad.

Battle of the Sections?
As the title of this thread indicates, we're interested in who can win section 2A, and then we'll worry about how that team can play with the extended season.

I'm interested in how this'll all read on Thursday, after the seeding meeting..

Troubles in Mora
Just taked to a parent from Mora looks as though Nate Horbacz got his thisrd major penalty against STMA Which means he is done for the year also Kastenbauer spearted his shoulder he may be done and Ackermann was recently suspended from School andd could be done Looks liek Mora is in trouble again it is to bad real good team could never get to full strenght this year they will still be a force in playoffs though.

Re: Troubles in Mora
Mora has a very good goalie, but I don't think that'll be enough come playoffs... Tough break on the school issues, but some kids you just can't help them... they gotta decide to do it themselves.

My Scouting Report
Scouting Report for St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders @ Princeton Tigers on Tuesday, February 11th.

A huge game for seeding purposes in section 2A. The winner will be top 2 for sure, and maybe #1 due to Sauks faltering of late. Here is how I see it.

Princeton:

Forwards:
1st Line- Joey Bacon-Travis Schneider-Kevin Englund
~Bacon is the go to guy, he gets a lot of help from the "grave digger" Englund in the corners. Schneider is a perfect fit for these two. How SCC can stop them: Slow them up, and try your best to beat out Englund in the corners.

2nd and 3rd Lines: Don't know much about these guys. ~Have not seen Princeton at all this year. From what I hear, look to be a solid core of guys. Some upperclassmen leading the way. Adds to a very deep forward set of lines. How SCC can stop them: Limit the shots that these lines take. Make sure they play good defense and make sure they do not get any goals.

Defense:
1st Set: Karl Larsen-Derrick Brown
~If not one of the best defensive pairs in class A hockey. Amazing to watch Larsen and how he is so poised out on the ice. Brown does not make mistakes and these two can control the game. How SCC can attack them: Strong forchecking and limit the puck movement of these two, they are both great passers, cut of angles and maybe a turnover will occur.

2nd Set: Charlie Ross-Kyle Jorgenson
~Ross keeps these two in check. Ross is a good solid defensive defensmen. Jorgenson has times where he may make a mistake but it relatively solid. How SCC can attack them: Forcheck, Forecheck, Forcheck- these two are not nearly as good as puck handlers as Larsen and Brown, they will make mistakes.

Goalies': Tony Osmundson- Jared Culver
~I do not know if they are still rotating these two, but this may be the downfall of the Princeton team. Both kids do not have much experience, but are getting better. Either one is a good fit for the game, they will play well in big games. How SCC can score: Lots of quality shots. Convert on the powerplays. Do a lot of screening and fast puck movement.

St. Cloud Cathedral

Forwards:
1st Line: Adam Koopmeiners-Eric Dahl- Mat Hall
~These kids have been playing together for awhile. They have great ability to know where each one is on the ice. Will be able to hold up to #1 line for Princeton. How Princeton can stop them: Agitate them- throw them off their game, good things will happen.

2nd and 3rd lines
~Hard to say who is going to be playing in these lines. A lot of mix and matching going around. Relatively inexperience group of kids. Really young but are getting the job done. How Princeton can stop then: Try to outwork them--in all aspects

Defense:
1st Set: Adam Schleper-Mat Crandel
~Schleper is a real big guy out on the ice. Lacks speed but will be in your face before you know it. Look for him and Englund to battle in the corner. Crandel is the bright spot, an 8th grader who is as good as they come. As Dick Vitale would say "A Diper Dandi"-- this kid can flat out play. How Princeton can attack them: Put pressure on Crandel, he may make mistakes. Schleper is a big force, may be tough to get around him.

2nd Set: Chrish Mach-Mike Schmidt
~These two work together pretty well. Schmidt is the best player on the ice for Cathedral. Almost identical to Larsen in the way he plays. Mach is a good defensive defensemen, won't make mistakes. How Princeton can attack them: Put pressure on them, mistakes will occur.

Goalie: Joel Rindelaub
~Seems like he has taken over the starting position and is doing well. Big game against Mora, should have another against Princeton. How Princeton can score: Get a lot of shots, and bury all rebounds.

This pretty much sums up the key players in tomorrow's game. My prediction is based on past experiences. Cathedral has beaten Princeton the last two times they have met. And they did beat them last year-- when Princeton went to state. I believe Cathedral has their number and will win 4-2, with a strong game from Rindelaub. Cathedrals underrated defense are going to very well. Bacon and Englund will play very well but will have trouble scoring. Goals by Cathedral will come on teh power play and against Ross and Jorgenson. Brown and Larsen will do their job. After SCC win-- seedings will look like this.

1) Sauk Rapids
2) SCC
3) Princeton
4/5) Which Sartel and Mora could have played earlier.
6) Proctor
7) Moose Lake
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)"> Denfeld
9) Pine City

There it is, up for criticism! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Princeton vs SCC
Well, that was very in depth and you did a good job, kid. Although the outcome is the one part i think will be different.
I don't think SCC can keep up with Princeton's first line. Bacon and Englund are too good and they will probably rack up a couple points.
Goaltending wise, St Cloud might slightly have the advantage. Rindelaub is a good goalie but I think he has yet to prove something. Culver and Osmundson make a good duo and which ever one plays must be on his game.
It will be a good game but i think SCC just doesn't have it (Princeton 4 SCC 1)

Princeton vs SCC In-depth scouting report
Ok first of all good job snaphockey 25 it will be very hard to out due that scouting report but I will give my bet shot at it so here is my in-depth scouting report of this HUGE HUGE GAME!!!!!!!!

Ok i am going to compare everthing by postion

Goaltending: Princeton:Ok they have been rotating Culver and Osmundeson I like the big guy personally is able to make mistakes and still be ok cause of his huge size Culver is a great goalie at times but when it close and the game is on the line the kid kinda fades so I am still not to sure on him still I liek both these kids they have made huge strides this year.
SCC:Rindelaub the kid has gotten better as the year has gone as well but still lack the abilty to control his rebounds teams who shot from the point and and crash the net will eat this kid alive but if he can just face one shot is very good wont beat him on very many first shots.
Advatage:SCC got a slight edge here nopt by mucch at all they are alomost even the only reason I take Rindalaub is he seems to play well in the big games and the Princetonss boys have still been shaky in the big games.

Defense: Princeton:Ok there first group is Larsen and Brown liek was said earlier one of the best class "A" dou's they fit each other perfect. Larsen is just amzing can take over the game from the blueline has big shot nice hands and doesnt make mistakes. Brown is very good as well kinda overshadowed by Larsen but doesnt make alot of mistakes and makes really smart plays out there these 2 are very good. The Second Unit for Princeton is Ross and Jorgenson being a very capable second unit Ross huge kid with a huge shot and hits hard is a reall solid player does a really nice job. Jorgenson is shaky at times but is usally very good and he is very underrated as a player as well.
SCC:Ok there first unit is Schleper and Crandell a very nice combo. They do a nice job Schleper is very good at hooking and slowing down kids to make up for his lakc of speed can rough it up in the coners usally comes out with the puck. Crandell I am not very high on this kid just cause he is young doesnt mean he is good makes alot of mental errors out there seems to liek to take hits hit this kid and he will be done Schleper covers for him alot. Second Unit is Mach and Schmidt very good second unit Mach is alot liek cradell very very rough on the edges and really doesnt impress me much but he seems to be able to control players out there. But the star of the SCC defensive unit is by far Schmidt he is really sloid good with the puck can make things happen really does a nice job i liek him alot.
Advantage: Princeton:They have a reall nice advantage they are more solid all around and have more experince then these young ones from SCC but they are nto far behind bu tright now Princeton got the adavtage.

Forwards:Princeton:The First line here is Bacon , Englund and Schneider they do most of the teams scoring and I am sorry but have yet to see a line shut them down yet this year. I love the way Englund plays with a ton of heart controls the coners I love the comment "Grave Digger" he does a reall nice job. And Bacon can put the puck away he has a real nack for finding the back of the net. Schneider doenst do a whole lot but puts the puck away when he is called upon.
SCC: Koopmieners, Dahl and Hall a real nice first line for SCC they do alot of nice things out there I have been very impressed by them. They run all there sytems so well they are not a very skilled group but they know how to play the game and you amke a mistake they are ready to captilize and they alwyas seem to find a way to score much like the Princeton line.
Advanatge: Princeton:I just really liek this line and I dont see even SCC top line topping them it will be a good battel thoguh whoever wins this battle will likly win the game.
Princeton: There second line is very solid with Miron, Dufner and Pangerl do a reall nice job. For what Miron lacks in speed he makes up for in determination he is a big coners guy like Englund on the first line. Dufner shows me alot at times he can be a big time player it depends which kid shows up if the good Dufner shows up SCC could hav troubole macthing up with Princeton. Pangerl shows me alot has alot of speed and skill needs to learn to finish when he does he will be a big time player.
SCC:There second line is a good one as well with Curtis, Wartin and Hengel they again are not a real skilled unti but they run sytems so well they make you make mistakes and can captilize this is the story for the whole SCC team. they are a dangerous group of forwards.
Advantage: i have to go with Princetonagain but not by muchg at all very even here I just liek the way that Princeotns second line can play at times.
Princeton: the third line for Princeton or the All senior line with Braun , Bowen and Fuller I like this lines grit they play tough hard nose hockey Bowen is liek a huge tank out there he jsut levels people and is very hard to move. braun has tons of speed and can really surpirse people and then ther eis Fuller who has a ton of potenial but never seems to play if he does he could be a huge force.
SCC: There third and second line are about the same with Anderson, Grahek and Noack. I liek this line they really have little if any skill but they get the job done run the systems well and play just reall good all around hockey.
Advantage: I have to go with SCCon this one but not by muchg all the lines match up very even but a matchup I am looking forward to is the Big Boys Bowen vs Anderson both are big kids liek to hit and I cant wait to see them go it should be liek a heavyweight fight.

My Preditction: I am going to go with all things a 3-3 tie these teams are very close it could go either way very hard to tell. But I am excitied I will be there to see this big time Matchup play out I am sure alot of other Section 2A teams will be there as well.

SHOULD BE FUN TO WATCH GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE PLAYERS!!!

Re: Princeton vs SCC In-depth scouting report
Thanks you guys!! Both have done a nice job of "laying it out". Tonight we'll know. I'm thinking that this should be a close game, and I'm also willing to bet the both teams want it a ton...

Although I think that SCC is deeper, I have to think that the fact that they don't have a senior on the squad could be an issue. I think that Princeton has that "Senior Maturity" that SCC will be lacking. Because of that, I think this will be a very close game, and could be representative of the 2A championship. Right now, the depth of these two teams should over-shadow the rest of the section.

Good luck to all the players... HERE WE GO!!!

scouting reports
The scouting reports were good but they have one flaw. Your talking about the 1st line playing the other 1st line and so on. But what you forget is that any good coach try's to get a mis-match with his 1st line and the others 2nd or 3rd. Really the 1st lines are on the ice together only at the start and end of a game. I think the deciding factor of this or any game is how well the 2nd and 3rd lines can shut down the other teams 1st line.

Basically, this could turn into a defensive battle? I'm guessing that defense and special teams will play a bigger part in the game than offense...

Won't be long now... Hope the trip is safe..

SCC Vs. Princeton
5-3 Princeton. it was 5-1 with 1 minute and 30 seconds left when Cathedrel scored 2 meaningless goals one against our fourth line, one with 6 seconds left when we weren't skating, game was over. I give credit to cathedral for not giving up, but other then that it was basically domination by Princeton. I am not sure what the shots were I forgot to check, maybe someone can help me out on that.

I have one other thing to say....
GodOfPuck....How does your foot taste. Your words of wisdom looked good posted in the stalls of every player. Great motivation. Thanks alot.

ptown, if you know anything about the SCC team, you would know this was one of the worse games we played all year. Simplly we had a bad game, and Princeton came out flying....and played like the team they are.. But to go as far as saying total domination? I disagree... SCC's Rindelaub had a less than impressive game and leting in 2 weak goals didnt help, Princeton controlled the tempo, but it wasnt in SCCs zone all the time, like you make it sound. 2 meaningless goals? Its not like the 1st line scored against the 4th. I give credit where its due, and princeton is a good team... and well meet again in the playoffs.... good luck to all teams in the upcoming playoffs, it should be interesting to say the least. One more thing, 'TheGodofPuck' is not a SCC player... i can bet on that.

Well I have seen one other game this year, against Marshall. And they looked much worse then they did tonight. I am not saying they are a bad team, I am sorry if that is how it came across. I think they have a very good team, they may go places this year, I defiantly think they will be the team to beat next year. Also I do not know which line scored your second goal, but it was our 4th line out there.

One other thing, If GodOfPuck is not from Cathedral, he sure is in love with it for some reason. He has had three posts. Two on how Cathedral was going to crush Princeton today(one on page 15 and one on page 17), and one on how they are going to crush Mora(page 16)

I have no clue who Godofpuck is, but everyone is very interested in who he is... I think hes an idiot, who thinks SCC is so good, and etc. etc. But obviously we arent an allstar team, and we need to work on things just like everyone else... You seem to chose to come to the bad games, haha... but yeah... Good game tonight

Princeton v SCC
Ptown, don't get into a match about the posts by some idiot... The word about GodOfPuck is that they're from Princeton, so be careful about pointing fingers... Nice job of creating your own insentive...

The Tigers played VERY well, I would say that this is the team to beat if you want to get to THE SHOW. Let's face it, the only two teams that are healthy are these two, and tonight you outplayed the Crusaders... Dominated???? not sure I would go that far, but clearly beat them, at least the first two periods. The games that I've seen SCC play, they just don't seem to want to play the first period. You guys came out SCREAMING!!! Nice job.

Now, the playoffs will begin and the season starts anew...

I hope every team can play up to it's potential and we have some great games.

Tigers Domination
WOW I saw a statment made tonight by the tigers what a game they came out and took it to SCC. I mean come on SCC the only time you controlled the play was when you were on the powerplay and you gave up a shorthanded on and then Would have given up another breakaway if your player didnt pull down Bacon. Hey P-Town thanks for taking my advise on posting the comment and he is from SCC no doubt about it. I see it worked wonders Tigers looked like the team to beat tonight Princeton controlled this game throughout it was 5-1 until with 30 seconds left i believe SCC got 2 meaningless goals on the Princeton 4 line but it shows character by SCC not to give up that is a very good thing. But as for the game Tigers came out flying on the first goal Brown made a nice play and the D zone took the puck came across the blueline used the D well as a screen and just buried the puck it was a real beauty then SCC came right back on really nice tip in front of the net pretty goal and then form then on it was all Tigers next goal Ross came Across the Blue line and fired it right through the SCC goalie it was a rocket then the back breaker came late in the period SCC had a power play and Bacon made a nice play to get loose burnt both SCC D and made the SCC goalie look silly it was a real pretty goal. Then the second period came with more Tiger's flying and in the middle opf the period Brown made a really pretty pass to Larsen who went in and buried it to put Princeton up 4-1 Tigers continued to play well into the third when on there only Power play of the night Englund threaded a real beauty to Ross who buried it top shelf to put the game away and late really late in the game SCC got 2 to make the final 5-3. What I took from the game is that SCC is not as quick or as deep as Princeton real big game from Princeton's third line the seniors came to play they really took it to SCC on the forcheck. As for SCC i can see that you have had better games but it was not your worse your were just really bottled up you got a nice team and will have a shot to knock the tigers off but 2 things will need to happen 1.) Need to get that goalie ready he hasnt impressed me all year and tonight was very unimprressive 2.) your going to have to figure out a way to slow down princeton you dont have there speed it really showed I know SCC can do this. My 3 stars well are the 3 D by the way I was very impressed by Brown and Larsen wow they are fun to watch when they are clicking like they were tongiht and even the SCC players have to confess when those 2 were out there it was hard to get around them real nice game by those 2. As for my 3 stars Ross Brown Larsen they played really well. Fun game to watch should be fun to see the rematch cause I am sure it will be a different SCC team.

On a sidenote: I was very surpirsed to see a sign for me at the game by the Princeton fans it was very nice I even signed an autograph I would like to thank them you made my day a very special one it is nice to see apprecation for my work so thanks to the Princeton fans.

Playoffs now though new season should be fun I see lots of upsets but we shall see it will be fun!!!!!!!!

OK, sort of agree with the seeding predicitons...
