A better way to calculate these assisted points is to use a SOS value for the opposing team and use it a multiplier rather than using an elimination threshold, then simply sum up the adjusted points per game. The result will be a little closer to the real deal that scouts are looking for when going out to recruit. For example, RochCent aney sisters are quite high on the HHUB list, but essential got shut down when playing a decent team, so if you apply the SOS summary to ROCHCeNT opponents, their point total gets cut way down. Can any body think of a good, measurable stat that one can apply to shut down D players who generally score alot less points than their forward counterparts?

I would be interested to hear who some of the experts think their Top 10 scorers are, stats aside. In other words, who would you not want coming down the ice against your team with the game on the line?
This is my favorite question on this post.

And I'm glad you all jumped on my Rochester mention at the top here. But that sister/sister line at EGF has looked pretty amazing all year as well.

Plus/minus stat is the best current way to rank a defenders true overall value IMO. "Shut down" defenders are rare at all levels and word gets around when a team has one or two. Smart and unselfish combined with talent.
