Hill Murray v. STA (round 2)

Post by Cadets16 »

Big game coming up next Thursday, the 23rd with the two conference rivals. Any early predictions?

Personally, I see this game as a pivotal point in STA's season. It's their chance to show they are still a team that can compete with the top tier teams after their rocky patch in the past few weeks. Large wins against North and South St. Paul have probably boosted morale on the team, and I would bet the Vanellis are craving a big win. A good chance for redeeming themselves to be a quality AA team.

Puck drops at 7:30 next Thursday, at the Saint Thomas Ice Arena.

I agree Cadets16, after playing well and losing in OT at Aldrich we will see what STA can do at home and after a few more weeks of the young players hopefully maturing. This could be a big game for the Cadets to see what them can do through the rest of the year, its a bigger game for them than it is for Hill Murray. Hill Murray is obviously a good team but I'm shocked at times with what Lechner lets Slattery get away with . Many times Slattery and some other Hill Murray players don't display the "class " you would expect from a high quality team

Why on earth does the conference schedule the top two team near the beginning of both the first and second rounds of play? It's like having the championship game first, followed by consolation.

I dont know for sure East Side, but it seems they play the same rotation of games every year, so i would assume the league has set up this rotation and thet just follow it year after year

Doing the same dumb thing every year is no excuse.

The schedule rotation in the Classic Suburban changes every few years. For the past three or four years, STA and Hill have played early in the rotation, but for the three or four years before that, they played at the end of the rotation. I don't know exactly how often they change the rotation, but it does change.

Good to see the Cadets finish a game against a top team. They're better than their record has been so far, and they finally have a win to prove it. They were really burning the Hill defense early on, and though Hill had more chances as the game went along, they never seemed entirely safe in back.

The AA field is about as wide open as it gets.

With a good amount of fan support, STA seems to be able to really come through.

I got a feeling there will be a lot of new faces in the cast at the X come March.

Hill had some chances to put it away but did not..STA goalie played well..big difference was play of STA D..having two senior D back in line-up a big difference vs. last game..lots of perimeter shots by Hill..great game to watch

Watched this one online, very impressed by STA's underclassmen. I wonder how many of them will stick around for next year

It's a big question at this point. In the first game against Hill, all 6 starters were juniors. On the roster last night was 1 freshman, 1 sophomore, 7 seniors and the rest juniors. If everyone stays, it'll be a very good team. But at this point, that's a very big if...

Novak was selected for NTDP last year and decided to stay.
He is committed to the Gophers and Donohue is committed to Air Force.

Novak was the #1 pick in the USHL draft last year.
Versich was picked in the 6th round.
Tufto was picked in the 8th round.
