Minnetonka 2, Eden Prairie 3
Eden Prairie’s three goals in the 1st period were enough to overcome a Minnetonka comeback effort in the 2nd as they hung on to defeat Class 2A No. 1 ranked Minnetonka 3-2. The Eagles 1st period goals were scored by Lauren Boyle, Charly Dahlquist and Naomi Rogge, all at even strength. The Skippers countered on 2nd period goals by Annelise Rice and Sydney Baldwin, with Baldwin’s coming on the power play. Minnetonka outshot the Eagles 35-22 but were thwarted by a strong effort in goal by Whitney Padgett, who made 33 saves for the win.
With the win Eden Prairie clinched 1st place in the super-strong Lake Conference, finishing with a record of 6-2 and 12 points. Minnetonka, with a record of 4-3-1, finished in 3rd place with 9 points, one behind Hopkins. The Royals, which finished conference play on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Minnetonka, compiled a 5-3 record for 10 points.
In our contest the forecasts were about as close as the score, only reversed. Our panel had the No. 1 ranked Skippers winning by a 18-15 margin. Of the 15 who picked the Eagles to win, there were two - Knight7 and RailingWizardofOZ – who predicted the 3-2 score, and they get off to the early lead.

Sophia Shaver netted the game winner 1:21 into overtime to win it for the 7th ranked Wayzata Trojans over the No. 3 ranked Edina Hornets at Braemar Arena. Wayzata's Hannah Bangen got her team on the board midway through the first period, and assisted on both Shaver's overtime goal and Kaitlyn Klein power play goal midway through the 2nd period, which put the Trojans ahead 2-0. Edina then stormed back to tie it on 3rd period goals by Emily Oden and Jackie Pieper to send it into OT. Shots were nearly even at 20-18 Edina.
In our contest only 4 of 33 had Wayzata winning, but there were two who predicted the 3-2 score: Maverick2000 and u12dad.
With only 3 of 21 games played so far, our final "13+" week is very much up for grabs, even for those who didn't fare well on this opening night. With so few games, here is just the top of the Leaderboard at this early juncture:

P.S. Now up on the Hub. Centennial's Gabbie Hughes shut out the Skippers with 27 saves, and Phaylen Meyer with the game's only goal on just 9 Cougars' shots.

Hill-Murray, ranked No. 4 in Class 2A, scored a goal in each period, and Leah Patrick stopped all 14 shots she faced in the Pioneers 3-0 shutout win over the Class 1A South St. Paul Packers at Aldrich Arena. Kenzie Prater has a goal and an assist for Hill-Murray, who fired 41 shots at Packers' goaltender Sydney Conley.
Our panel, with an average score of 4-1, was near unanimous (32 of 33) in picking the Pioneers to win. But only one - Misterright - predicted their 3-0 shutout victory.

Taylor Flaherty scored two goals to lead the Class 2A 9th ranked Lakeville North Panthers to a 3-1 win over 16AA Jefferson/Kennedy at the Bloomington Ice Garden. Alexis Joyce scored the Panthers' other goal while Dani Sadek contributed two assists. Lakeville North had a substantial 44-17 advantage in shots on goal. Kudos to Bloomington's Bailey Plaman for making 41 saves to keep the game close until Flaherty's power play tally toward the end of the 3rd period.
If you did not predict the 3-1 score you fell behind the EVEVEN who did for sure an all time record for any one game since we've been doing this. Eighteen others did pick up a single point while just four were shut out.

If you did not predict the 3-1 score you fell behind the EVEVEN who did for sure an all time record for any one game since we've been doing this. Eighteen others did pick up a single point while just four were shut out.

In our contest the story here is that ALL BUT ONE post a goose egg for not predicting a tie. HOWEVER, not only did RailingWizardofOZ think the two teams would tie he also thought the score would end up 2-2. Off hand I can't think of any other instance where one prognosticator picking up 2 points on the entire rest of the field after having predicting a tie.
