Holiday Buzzsaw Tournament AA and A
I think it would be fun to see all of the section champs and the 2nd place teams play each other the following year so we can see how these teams stack up overall the following year. It would give us a much better view on teams like THE CARDS FROM LUVERNE. Th:is would truly force them to air all the BS out and give a true pic of the team and all the others that show up unproven. Dont get me wrong I am sure most will be battle tested before Sections the previous seasons. Just adding a little spice. What do think you Hockey Junkies?

How could anyone "get you wrong" on that (BS) comment.

I am just a Funster Fast crash but really let's get the real deal going. Time to get all these hyped up teams sorted out and find out what they are really made of.fastncrash wrote:"force them to air all the BS out" ?RRubberbeeskit wrote:I think it would be fun to see all of the section champs and the 2nd place teams play each other the following year so we can see how these teams stack up overall the following year. It's SIMPLE... Open your checkbook. The youth program in Luverne already coughs $40K a year to just play the HS program they have now...RRubberbeeskit wrote:I am just a Funster Fast crash but really let's get the real deal going. As much as I know they would enjoy the opportunity to jet around the state and play all the teams you referenced, it's just not a Financial possibility, or a reality.

Luverne is putting together a few good years in a row here..I'm pretty sure if they really tried, they could easily get some quality games added to their schedule. Perhaps their AD and Coach shoud be trying to organize their own early season round robin and try and get a few Metro or outstate teams to come down.

That has been happening for years, just not with Metro or North participation. You would think it would be just that easy to change a schedule or add higher quality games, but it's not. It's coming along, but still very much a struggle. Especially in dealing with School Districts, Liability and Cost rule the roost. Luverne will likely have to keep proving that the last 3+ years HS success isn't a flash in the pan, before the risk/cost doesn't outweigh the advantages. The Metro teams that are working with them now have reported that they are very happy with the investment. Luverne's Youth age teams are pretty consistently solid groups too, and are gaining respect/games. But STILL struggle adding the quality they would like, and of course the almighty dollar is always an obstacle. A good amount of the seated HS group (And Youth) plays Hockey year round (some on VERY high end AAA teams). And keep in mind, it's an absolute rarity for a kid to ONLY play one sport in a town that size. They play Spring Hockey, the HS group plays in a good Summer League, and also have Fall Elite players getting the nod from Metro organizers... From an outsiders perspective, they are doing the right things to grow consistent quality in their program but will never escape the size limitations of the pool to draw from, until they can build a "Recruiting" program like some other programs in the State. Luverne's PWA team went to State last year with 9 skaters and a single Goalie. When's the last time you heard of that happening, anywhere? It just takes time, AND of course, money. Luverne just added a Million dollar Lobby to their Paid for Indoor Facility that sits next to their 200 x 85 Outdoor sheet which is probably going to be covered and refridgerated soon. I'd say they have a pretty good thing going in a very nice little town.Tenoverpar wrote:Luverne is putting together a few good years in a row here..I'm pretty sure if they really tried, they could easily get some quality games added to their schedule. Show Luverne that they don't belong in the discussion of elite teams?RRubberbeeskit wrote:I think it would be fun to see all of the section champs and the 2nd place teams play each other the following year so we can see how these teams stack up overall the following year.
