East blows out Lakeville North 4-0.

Remember this.
DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.

East 3
North 1.

East's 3rd might be an open netter...? But it's hard to tell as my friggen Crystal Ball is frosted over. :(

I would guess if ever it was before Randolph got there. Cant think of any time it happened in his 20+ years at East. East has not had a losing record now for 61 consecutive season dating back to the 53 season when they were something like 3-4

I believe Tonka may have accomplished this on Hockey Day a couple of years ago.

NORTH 4 (ot)
EAST 3

the trip up and early start will bode well for East but
L North is the hands down best team in the state and on an
epic run...sorry Hounds'...you're going down but I'm at least
giving you OT

LN has 3 regular season games remaining including this one vs East, Eagan and PL. No easy games. I think if they have a chance at winning it all, it would almost serve them best to lose 1 of regular season games remaining to regroup, get their minds right, make sure they are focused and be prepared for what lies ahead in sections. I just think it would be almost impossible to win 25 straight- (which is what it would take it they ran table on remaining games and won state.)

Nah, we wait until section finals against Grand Rapids to break out our East refs. Can't tip our hand too often and waste them on a regular season game.

For what it's worth, 4 of East's 5 losses have been at home this year. I'm afraid I'm a pessimist about this one, but I hope I'm prove wrong.

And to answer the running time question, the Tonka '12 loss is the only loss by more than 5 goals under Randolph, though there may have been 1 or 2 others that went into and out of running time. They also had a 6-goal loss and a State Tourney game that was (at least for a little while) in running time during Randolph's one year off the job. Going back into the 70s and 80s, it happened with frequency (if they even had running time then).
