Agreed...not to mention LN was missing two key players with seperated shoulders courtesy of an Eagan hack (I'm refraning from naming names) and one key forward spent a lot of time in the bathroom...just sayin'. Only time will tell. Let's let the boys settle this one.
Are those the same two kids who jumped right out to take their next regular shift after laying dead on the ice for a couple of minutes?
If you think you're the best in the State, then honor the game and play like it.

No...those are the two that showed up last night in arm slings and didn't dress. Don't chirp unless you know the facts. Like I said already - let the boys settle this.

You call a kid a "hack" then say let the boys settle it? Too rich by half.
Fine. I stand corrected. Must have been two other LN players who took regular shifts after drawing a penalty and laying motionless on the ice.

Very proud of this Bored...it took a full two dozen posts before a Lakeville North parent posted an excuse!!!

Well that's a lot longer than everyone claims it takes us HM rubes when we make excuses. Not sure how having multiple players out would be an excuse. It's a fact that would naturally affect shifts, lines, minutes, etc. I agree with the posters that losing this game could be okay from a pressure relieving standpoint. Didn't see either game so I won't call a kid a hack and I'll give LN a pass on losing for the first time in a long time.
All other things being held equal, anytime a #1 or #2 loses, especially to an un-ranked opponent, they will drop in the ratings. Often times a ranked team losing to a higher ranked team will drop.
LN falling from #1 is a good thing to happen to them. If they drop several spots, in the rankings as well as in (possible) state tournament seedings, it puts a chip on their shoulders, gives them something to prove. (We're better than that, we'll show 'em!)
Ratings are an amusing past time for fans during the season, but it doesn't pay to get too bent out of shape about them. make your point, and see how the season plays out. It's really a great season, a lot teams are in the mix. Anything can happen so it should be a lot of fun.

You mean we should be whining we've been missing Downtown Willie Brown the entire year? Nahh, we don't whine, we just keep playing. LN has a bullet on their back and they finally cracked. Still a darn good team, but there is no doubt this cost them in state seeding if they make it that far.
I think there's definitely a case to be made for them to stay where they are, but I'd also support a drop to #3 in "the rankings," behind Edina and Wayzata. They shut out a Hill team who beat Edina and Edina beat Wayzata. It was pretty easy to have them up there with what they were doing.
I have been a big supporter of them at #1 going on the run they were on; during that run they tied Blaine, shut out Hill Murray and beat Burnsville, along with a slew of wins over other way above average teams. I don't think one close loss to a good team (27 and 28 by PageStat and Mitch) is necessarily enough to say they aren't the top team.
During their run, Edina has lost to or tied 3 teams they beat, Wayzata has lost to 1 team they beat, and Hill has lost to a team they beat. Considering they shut out Hill, who is 1-1 against Edina winning the most recent matchup and Edina is 2-0-1 against Wayzata, I think a very solid case can be made for them to stay atop the rankings.
That being said, I see why people want them down. It's tough to compare, by PageStat, the #8 schedule to the #1 and #3 schedule. While they didn't lose for a long time, the caliber of team they were playing is not the same as the other two we're discussing.

No way LN stays at 1 or is the 1 seed if they make it to St. Paul after the loss to Prior Lake who finishes the regular season under 500. LN can still make some noise presuming they are the most sure thing to make it thru that awful section.
Looks like LPH beat karl to that voodoo-whammy punch....Edina #1 in their latest rankings.

Does voodoo care who is dishing out the #1 ranking?
Hey greenie, let us know which poll you're worrying over, so that we can jump on the hornet bandwagon and properly start the "Edina is #1" campaign!

No doubt that LN is one of the top teams in the state. But my question is does playing on an Olympic size rink at home during the regular season effect them during sections and most likely the state tournament? I ask this question because they beat Hill at home 3 to 0. They also beat Eagan and EV at home where they lost at EVs rink and barely beat Eagan at Eagan.
When they play on a NHL sheet it gives the opposition more chances to body up and also less space to operate for the top line especially.
I would like to hear others thoughts on this topic.
