The Thawks have some mental monsters to conquer for sure if they are going to give East a game. I think they will. When everyone is predicting they will lose they should really have less of the fear factor going. Played them already and hopefully learned what didn't work. Come on T-hawks, I love a good giant slayer. Travel safe everyone.

Just stating the obvious that the Shepherd kid has won a lot of big games and don't know that the Howg kid has. Is that better reasoning for youSlammer wrote:So since he's "unknown" that's why Rapids will win? But he's "good"?offtheglas wrote:East goalie has been good but is an unknown, Shepard has a proven track record GR 4 East 2 EN

You're talking about the "thunderhawk" right?north_bear wrote:Definitely not the best. Classic looking yes. Don't forget about one of the most ridiculous looking mascots around.OTB987 wrote:East has best uni's in the state - no doubt about it.Mite-dad wrote:East wins 4-1. Much cooler uniforms.
DE could've "easily" won state the last 5 years.

Not televised anywhere. Don't know about webcasts.grindiangrad-80 wrote:I can't find it if it is. Tempted to make the trek from Green Bay in the morning. I have never watched these two go at it live.grandindian wrote:Anyone know if the East Rapids game is televised tomorrow or webcast?
Make the drive! The main streets are cleared pretty well by now.

Suppose I've got to offer a prediction. Duluth's def style is gonna smother Rapids a bit and east isn't usually a scoring machine so it will be low scoring. My head says east 2 to 1 but my heart says Rapids 4 to 3.

It's a down year for east compared to recent years... That's what I meantnorthwoods oldtimer wrote:Where do you come up with your material? The DJ of of Duluth East.Slammer wrote:Well tomorrow's the day.
If Rapids wants to beat East, this is their year to do it.
Whatever happens, I hope a northern team is representing 7AA.

Rapids could buy ice time practice just like East can. I believe they have alittle practice tomorrow morning at Amsoil, while East has been practicing there for two weeks.north_bear wrote:Just curious: Does Rapids travel down the day before? Get a little practice at Amsoil before the game. Or is only East allowed to practice at the neutral site.

Lee told me that East hired LHB Architects and Engineers to do a complete schematic on the boards and glass at Amsoil. They know how every single puck will bounce off of every inch of square surface. Randolph has had the kids studying it for the last three months.north_bear wrote:I see. I would definitely want my team to practice there at least once before game day if I was a coach; try to make it as much a level playing field as possible.

Froggy, you forgot the part about these Architects and Engineers being East grads and parents of current players. This helped immensely.Froggy Richards wrote:Lee told me that East hired LHB Architects and Engineers to do a complete schematic on the boards and glass at Amsoil. Enough already everybody knows this is a neutral site location for all 7AA teams involved. Let the games begin.east hockey wrote:Froggy, you forgot the part about these Architects and Engineers being East grads and parents of current players. No video, but lots of radio options.MNhockey29 wrote:Will today's games be streamed online or on the radio?
AM 1490 out of Duluth has the Rapids/East game:

If you want a somewhat, uh, less neutral broadcast, KOZY out of Rapids has one, too.
www.kozyradio.com
MSBN says it will have both games, though the first game may just be a re-transmission of one of the other two radio feeds:

Should be a fun day of hockey, no matter what happens. I have some thoughts, but I'll hold off until after the game.
I suppose I should leave kinda early so that I can fight my way through the crowds of Rapids tourists snapping pictures of the skywalk system.
