VFW of Minnesota puts on their own state championship lateral to Minnesota hockey. The Bantam A team has to be sponsored by a local post and if read correctly the local post is required by VFW to sponsor if it is requested. They run their own district regular season, and district tourney and state tourney. Their districts are the same as the actual VFW district. So as a bantam A team who is sponsored by VFW, you can play in two different post seasons, I always enjoyed it a lot. Our VFW district was different and incredibly more fun and competitive than our MH district. though there aren't as many teams in the VFW program, it is very competitive and is very important to win it, a big deal. And yes the VFW treats the boys unbelievably well.

VFW
My son's team is participating in a VFW District Tournament but there was no league during the season. Not sure if that is the case statewide. There are 9 VFW Districts and each will send a Champion to the State Tourney. The host district also gets a host team, so it is a 10-team state tourney.
I agree this used to be a lot of fun playing in the VFW league games because they were full stop time and 1.5 hours long in the days when regular league games were just an hour of ice. We had a third jersey that we would wear for the VFW league.
I commend the VFW for trying to keep this tradition alive.

FYI
This years VFW State Tournament is being held at the new Fergus Falls Community Ice Arena on March 28th - 30th.
This will be a great weekend to see some high end Bantam hockey teams.
Best of Luck to all VFW teams!
