Rink is 100 x 200 - will that favor one or the other team????
Gustavus seats 1500
There are two sheets at ASA. One olympic and one not. There is no way they could have the game on the Olympic sheet. The seating in there would be a few hundred at most. This game will be played in the big arena with the smaller sheet of ice.
However, an Olympic sheet would benefit new ulm because that is what they play on.

Rink finder says the bigger seating capacity is the bigger sheet.
I have not been to the rink for 10 years so I do not remember which is which.

Rink finder must have a case of the hockey hub because it is incorrect. That Olympic sheet has no seating at all. A couple five row metal stands on ice level last time I was there. The mankato state girls play in the big arena which has a standard size sheet.

Correct, the smaller sheet of ice has the larger seating capacity.

EGF and Warroad sold out the 2,500 seats at the East Grand Forks Civic Center last year and will sell out the 3,500 at Ralph Engelstad Arena tomorrow evening. Got my tickets today!

I think New Ulm is your Section 3A Champ by the end of the night!
3A You rock this thread It would suck without you.
Just wondering if this "Awful Rink" is slanting things in the favor of NU ? I'll hang up and listen.
You're right this is a PLEASE BAN ME rink to play in. I think 90% of class A is cheering for Luverne in this one. Nobody wants to see another New Ulm team get stomped at state. Luverne 6-2.

Mr. Goalie Boy: Fresh blood out of Sec.3A would be fun to see. Overall stats say The Cards have what it takes. I watched NU around the holidays and they really didn't impress me however the goalie was decent along with the 1st line. I think NU's only chance is to play a very physical game and bang those birdies around along with staying out of the box.
Does anyone know of an audio stream for this game?
Beeskit might have hit the nail on the head there. A factor in this game could be who can play a physical game without spending time in the box. Can NU skate with Luverne? Sounds like the top line could be tough but then what?
I like Luvurne's top D pair to carry them more than their top line. The one everyone talks about is Toby but Travis Frakes is a great hockey player with potential at the next level as well.

When is the last time you have been in ASA.. They have done some nice upgrades to that sheet.. Seating will still be an issue. It will be packed and they will have to turn people away which is unfortunate. Full Houses' are fun to play in!!
No offense GAC is terrible venue for a section championship as well..
Put the 1A and 3A Championship game same night at the Verizon Center..
I'm really looking forward to the game tonight. It's pretty much the game a lot of people wanted to see all year since they didn't play in the regular season.
It's a hard one to predict, I'll admit that I'm born and raised and played in NU and will be cheering for them tonight. But Luverne is the better and deeper team, and deserve to go to state. My fingers are crossed for New Ulm to be the villains and end Luverne's season with a 1 in the L column.
