I won't ask how they got around the fact that the State wrestling tournament is underway.

Calm before the storm in this thread. Hey HSHW...it's easier to say"I told you so" if you actually tell us who is going to win the game before the puck drops.

Games take time to turn into 'rivalries'. STA as a new addition to the section will have plenty of chances to develop some hatred and vice versa. I could see this turning into a decent rivalry in the coming years.Hockey922 wrote:Kind of a boring game for a final....no rivalry factor. I'm sure a lot of people would prefer a Eastview-Eagan final or an CDH-STA final

Does that mean that we're not supposed to already have some well-developed hatred going into tonight's game?BlueLineSpecial wrote: Games take time to turn into 'rivalries'. Absolutely not. You are allowed to have a significant amount of hatealmostashappy wrote:Does that mean that we're not supposed to already have some well-developed hatred going into tonight's game?BlueLineSpecial wrote: Games take time to turn into 'rivalries'. I just classify hatred and rivalry differently. If everyone that hated Hill was a rivalry, every game would be a rivalry

Rivalry or not this is a section final game between two great teams. We all love rivalries so we can see the hardest fought, highest intensity game for bragging rights to follow. I highly doubt a team that makes the section final won't bring that, rivalry or not. Which brings me to my next thought...
Now that STA has opted to AA, does it matter to you if it were CDH or STA to win the section, or State Tourney for that matter? Is your hate speficially private schools winning or STA in general? Like Blueline mentioned - would you hate Hill if they were playing Eagan tonight?

"Hate" is probably too strong a word. "Dislike" is probably more appropriate. I dislike STA for hanging around Single A far longer than they should have, same as many folks across the State. There's also a minor local angle, as STA does pluck off the odd Eagan High student or two. It's the opportunistic move-outs that bug me...I've got no problem with private schools in general, or with Eagan families who have been upfront since mini-mites about their plans to send their kids to CDH or Holy Angels for high school.EliteHockeyMind wrote:Rivalry or not this is a section final game between two great teams. Definitely don't have any problems with HM (might be different if I lived in Woodbury). Great coach, great program, beautiful city....

How about the public schools that pluck a player off their team? Like Jenson from Eagan who played for STA-- I suppose that doesn't count

I got ya, I can understand the dislike for players recruited outside of the surrounding "area" of the school. I think they really got everyone to dislike them for hanging around in single A for too long... but that is definitely the past and I am not sure anyone can use that reason to dislike them anymore.almostashappy wrote:"Hate" is probably too strong a word. Hi, I'm a hockey player, but I'm playing golf today.
Eagan needs to stick to their grinding, in your face defensive style. They are very well coached an play better in the neutral zone than any HS team i've seen this year. They need to get good goaltending outta Lindgren and slow down Novak, Versich and STAs overall team speed and skill. STA needs to use their speed and skill conversely and not get caught up in a physical, emotional battle which Eagan can trap teams into.BlueLineSpecial wrote:Looking forward to this game. What does Eagan need to do to win? What does STA need to do to win?
In the games I've seen STA play, they are fast and elusive. Haven't seen Eagan play yet this year.
Think this one will be good.

Good stuff, sounds like you have seen Eagan play quite a bit. Just from the record looks like both have had huge wins, and some losses they probably shouldn't have lost. It's just going to come down to who want's it more.Sats81 wrote:Eagan needs to stick to their grinding, in your face defensive style. Families aren't allowed to move out to the suburbs anymore?bauerman wrote:I should have completed this thought better--Jenson played for STA 2 years and then transfered to Eagan, oh and he grew up in Highland
I draw a pretty bright line between families who buy a house in a different city and actually live in that house, and those families who game the system. Especially when it's a move that most people can understand on multiple levels.
Forget the hockey. Uniforms vs yoga pants...pick one.
I was just pointing out the thinking that some people seem to have about all private schools as far as players transfering.Jack Jenson and his family are great people but when someone moves from a private school to a public school there is no uproar, and maybe there shouldn't be.But as far as "gaming" the system and moving to the suburbs goes--being Jenson played two years at STA to be "eligable" they needed to move to play for Eagan
1-0 STA after the first
Shots 11-8 for STA
STA came out at the beginning as the better team and had a solid amount of offensive zone time but Eagan after giving up the lone goal has stepped it up physically and that has caused STA to turn the puck over.
Fast paced game and after the goal it has been pretty even I would say

Much agreed. Great game so far, with some active student sections. Eagan is the much more physical team and getting the turnovers, however Snow is making some beautiful saves.green4 wrote:1-0 STA after the first
