SOS - East 18.92 v. ER 19.14
Statistically that is a dead heat no matter how you cut it. ER is 1.051 STDEV above the AVG and East is 1.039.
PageStat Rating looks even closer (don't feel like crunching those)
East 20-6-1 ER 20-6-0
ER won 3-2 on Dec 10th. East beat this team, ER beat that.
And good luck trying to get in the heads of teenagers. I hope it is a great game and I hope my team wins. No matter how you cut it both teams have been very good this year and should be proud, although I know the loser will not feel that way after. The emotion of High School Sports is what makes it so great.
And all about as even as this thread's poll numbers.

DEAR MR BLUELINE SPECIAL
No matter which team you pick here you're not way off. The best Hockey minds in town are puzzeled on this one

I was being facetious. At the time the poll numbers were 32-all and yes, it's difficult to make a call between these very even teams.

The City of Hill Murray is beautiful this time of year

0-0 about half way through the 1st. Elks controlling play but East has had some chances. Both goalies making some big saves. The refs are letting them play, surprisingly given how influential they were at last years final.
0-0 after 1. I believe Howg has 10 saves and Berglove has 5. East gets some chances in transition but Elk River is carrying more of the play and getting more shots.
How is the crowd there? Looks pretty good from the tv but I doubt it is near last years attendance.
I think this is my favorite playoff game I've been to this week. Fair amount of people, 2/3 full I'd guess? Maybe less. Good entertainment on both sides of the puck. Clearly the best music of any venue yet. First song I heard when I walked in was Nirvana. As much fun as it is to see 5+ goals in a game these low scoring games might just be better. Later in the game before the first goal is scored, making it that much more valuable. And as I'm just about to push submit, 1-0 Elk River 0:15 into the second period.
Wow! East ties it at 1 and the Elks storm back 10 seconds later to take the lead 2-1. Elk River with 2 more grade A scoring chances but Howg makes the stops. Could easily be 4-1 Elks.

Who are the best hockey minds in town? Other than the admin here of course.
Jeez what a game and period so far. East is digging hard to get a goal. Huge saves by Berglove. East going on pp after a cross check into the boards. 3:50 left.

Yes, you did say that. And I'm saving it.
Wow! Didn't see that coming--it looked bleak for a while.
