Wow you're grasping now. Red was outshot about 2-1 and was playing for the shoot out. The goalie played very very good and that is what you will need wednesday. I hope that your 2 lines that played that game can handle every other vs the hawks.

Using this logic...

Luverne tied STMA 1-1
STMA lost to Rogers 5-2
Rogers lost to Hermantown 3-1
Soooooooo....
Hermantown should win by 5

6-1 Hawks

Will the CARDS be the first 30 win team this year?

unfortunately Reality sets in. The Luvey finally plays a descent team and its going to be a whipping of epic proportions. Undefeated on the season going into the State Tourny and can't get a seed? Draw Hermantown. Just keep the bus warmed up because its 2 and bbq.

SSP beat Park/CG by 7
Park/CG tied Mayo
Mayo beat JM by 8
JM beat Winona by 6
Winona tied LaCrescent, who tied Dodge County
Dodge County lost to Luverne by 1.

I got the Hawks, 32-1.

Hermantown losses to Eagan 4-1
Eagan losses to Bloomington Jefferson 4-3
Bloomington Jefferson losses to Bloomington Kennedy 2-1
Luverne beats Bloomington Kennedy 3-1

By this comparison, I guess Luverne is 7 goals better than the Hawks?

Luverne roster

Luverne really is a terrific story and it's great to be in the Cinderella role here. Glad to read that lots of people from all over the state are pulling for them. They are all local kids... no "recruits" of any type. They don't get much respect, as evidenced by their placement in the tournament despite their sterling record. The coaches have done all they can to make their schedule as tough as possible, and you can't control where your town is located. At the Bloomington Kennedy game, we overheard one Kennedy parent saying, "Who the heck are these guys?" Comments like that are fun and motivating for the kids.

No blowout here. Luverne has enough talent to hang around in this game just fine. Follow Marshall's lead from last year.
Weather the early storm. Respect the #2 seeds abilities. They will be better than you in most aspects. Accept it and do what you can.
Count on your goaltender to make the saves he can, and keep battling.
3A got a better performance last year from it's representative, and this Luverne team will continue to build on that. They will win a game up there. May not be this one, but they will win one.
Hermantown's a fantastic program. Respect them and learn from them.

Luverne comes in there with an attitude of "bow to the king" like that and they will be on running time fast. The teams that beat them come in knowing they are better than them and keep the intimidation factor to a minimum. Otherwise it's over in the 1st period and the Hawks can spend the rest of the game playing D. It will be a Luverne victory if they can keep it within 1or2 in the first period. The WILL to win is part of the Hawks winning formula. As much as I would like to see an underdog win, Hawks will rock them back on their heels in the first and win this one easily. If Denfeld and DM couldn't get it done, doubtful that the Cards will. Hopefully EGF gets past pesky Orono so we can see one good game this tournament.

Wasn't meaning, nor did I say, they should Bow to the King.
We're basically on the same page here.
Coming in cocky and expecting to play your same game, will get you on Sports Center (in a bad way) . 3A remembers those days and doesn't want to go back to them.

I want to see BobSaget in a pink tutu.....really, I do.

("I'll wear a pink tutu to Luverne's game on Friday if they beat Hermantown....BobSaget).

And at 6'2" 245 I think that I'll be pretty noticeable so please...give it to me"....BobSaget.

I just have a hard time seeing that happen. Looking at the Hub, the Cards have not played a team like the Hawks this season. Their signature win is Bloomington Kennedy. Will be interesting to see how they handle a team that can score points on them like they have been doing to less than stellar teams all season long. I've been skeptical of Htown all season long, but this would be an upset of epic proportions.

But I guess that's why they play the game.

What a great story here. Luverne. Pretty sure they didn't have youth hockey when I played.

Very curious to see what Big Se'xay and 8th Grade Jaxon (formerly known in the Brick threads from 3 1/2 years ago on the Youth forum as "the red helmet kid") bring to St. Paul.

Best of luck to Luverne. I'll probably watch my first Class A game ever.
Be kind. Rewind.

Cec, Hopkins, Rogers, brainerd and bemidji. I believe that's 5 wins over AA teams this year.

Hermantown has defeated four of the single A tournament entrants this year, as well as highly ranked A school Duluth Marshall twice, so those could be considered "signature wins" as far as class A goes

I think everyone outside of Hermantown is cheering for Luverne. Would be nice to see a 3A team have some success

Um, last I looked they are a SINGLE A team? You REALLY are not going to try to convince anyone that the cardinals played an equivalent schedule are you? Personally, I hope Luverne wins, but to say they are battle tested with the schedule they played this year is ridiculous.

Has anyone seen both Hermantown and Luverne play? If so, that would be helpful.

By PageStat, they are the 18th Class A team right now. I doubt many actually expect a win, but stranger things have happened. I don't doubt they'll score a couple goals, but on paper my biggest concern is defense. It's hard to judge with their schedule as they have 25 games of allowing 2 or fewer goals, but they weren't winning in the same fashion West was.
