Also been told HE WILL NOT be leaving Luverne. Good for 3A and SW MN Hockey
The bottom line is there's a LOT of good players on this team, and will be more joining next year. Jaxon's a very special talent and IF you didn't hear (or understand) the words of one of the most respected scouts in Hockey, consider this... he was also the MVP of the Brick and they just don't hand that out to anyone. So, he's been on a stage even bigger than MN and opened eyes. He's been good, is good, and will continue to be good for a long time to come.

"Champions are made from something they have deep inside them...they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill" -- Muhammad Ali
I've been watching another kid, now a freshman, getting passed up by other kids this year because he doesn't work hard enough. The kid is big (6'5") and talented, but he's lazy. He's been moved around these last two years trying to find that place where he fits in. The last move was just after Christmas to a team in another state. The sad thing is he's no longer shining, because his lack of work ethic is starting to show. In fact, he didn't get to play 1 second of playoff games.
You don't have to work hard when you're 13 if you're naturally talented and big, but at 16 or 17 you will fall into the center of the pack without that strong drive and committment. Olympians aren't olympians simply because of their talents.
That said, I hope this Luverne kid has solid, grounded parents and coaches that can guide him to reach his dreams. He doesn't need SSM for that; he just needs people that love him, believe in him, support him, and push him to work hard...towards whatever his passion is in life, hockey or otherwise.

So now we are bragging about a tournament for 9 and 10 year olds.. C'mon.. I don't think anyone on this board is saying negative things about the Nelson kid.. Everyone.. Including all scouts are trying to figure out his ceiling when it comes to athletic ability.fastncrash wrote:http://www.brickinvitational.pointstrea ... xff2j9dUWkhshockeydagger wrote:i may sound dumb here, but what is the brick you refer tofastncrash wrote: Wow! Is he a very talented 8th Grader.. Absolutely.. No doubt about it!! Go watch the 15 and 16's in St.Cloud. Find out who the top 15 kids are in those age groups at that time. Some will soar to the next level and some will drop to just an above average HS player when it is all said and done with.. Rarely the best kid at 15 and 16 is the best kids when they are 17, 18,19 or 20 year olds. I think that is the point that many Luverne faithfuls can't except for some reason..
I encourage their family to listen to Agent Sheehy speaking about all the noise.. Luverne has plenty of kids currently and coming up that will challenge Nelson everyday in practice but not so much competition in games. I would love to see Nelson stay and make his own Noise because Luverne has some very talented players in their Bantam and Pee Wee programs. 3A Has been the joke of the State Tournament for years but the change is coming and coming faster than people expected..

It seems ridiculous, but have you seen the alumni of this tournament? This isn't your average squirt tourney. Just looking through the rosters of past champs you see names such as Jay Bouwmeester, Dion Phaneuf, Tyler Ennis, Jared Spurgeon, etc.Deck Slide wrote:So now we are bragging about a tournament for 9 and 10 year olds.. From watching the games...Looks like a pretty good work ethic to me...probably has a very supportive family to get to this point!50/50 wrote:"Champions are made from something they have deep inside them...they have to have the skill and the will.
