I liked the way luverne played but had it not been for Meyer Luverne could have also lost by 5. Go back and look at the scoring chances and shots. Way in favor of Hermantown. I am excited to see Luverne continue to build as most of their top end talent returns but to say they could've won that game seems pretty far out there.

Not as far out there as you would think if you go back and review it again... 3-4 HIGH quality chances from both teams that didn't connect. Score could have pretty easily been Herm 9 Luverne ?, or the game could have been taken by Luverne with a little better puck luck and Herm not getting the benefit of Luverne putting their first one in, and an open netter... It's just the way it is. Chisago saw what Luverne is capable when clicking... and then Luverne tried for a period and a half to shoot themselves in the foot. A few less "Nerves" for Luverne to begin and I think Hermantown get's WAY more game than they wish for.SouthernMinnFan wrote:I liked the way luverne played but had it not been for Meyer Luverne could have also lost by 5. Oh i deffinitely think Luverne had a lot of nerves coming in. Their top line looked to get more and more comfortable as the game went along. Like I said I really liked what I saw, but when Toby and Frakes were not on the ice Luverne struggled to get the puck out of the zone and Hermantown had the puck on net all night, Meyer just did as top goalies should do, and keep them in it and make the first stop. I know you have been defending the program for two years now but I think people finally have seen that there is talent there. But, just because Luverene turned some heads doesn't mean all of us are ready to crown them the next STA. I really hope to see southern minnesota hockey grow and this team helps. I will be pulling for them against TG but they might have their hands full with another strong team. Luverne should be good for some years to come. Good luck .

So we know the MSHSL told the refs to avoid the major penalty call wherever possible. Clear hit from behind on the NP player and after deliberation the refs come up with unnecessary roughness against HTown. Also the refs must have forgotten about the unsuspecting or unprotected player getting hit. Never liked that rule but it is the rule so it should be called.

Don't know about the MSHSL telling the refs anything, but that indeed was a very borderline hit, and yes it could have been called a major. It may not have been directly from behind, but the kid did go into the boards head first, and I was glad to see him get up.Nuts&Bolts wrote:So we know the MSHSL told the refs to avoid the major penalty call wherever possible.
