			I think it's similar to Alabama's Crimson Tide nickname. EGF's color is green, and the idea is that they are as unstoppable as an ocean wave. Roseau's nickname was the Green Wave when they won their first state title. 			Actually I think they do have hills in Grand Forks.  At least for part of the year when the sugar beets are being harvested, then it is back to being waveless.

			Its when the wind blows hard across a lake that is receiving way too much phosphorus runoff.  The resulting algae blooms create bright green waves.  Becoming fairly common in Minnesota.
