CCM NIT Team
Are Rosters out somewhere for this**forget it looked on Minnesota hockey site; boys and girls rosters are on it***? I copied this from Duluthnews.com today.
Two local prep players named to CCM NIT team
Grand Rapids senior goalie Hunter Shepard and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton senior defenseman Jade Avillar recently were named to the boys and girls teams, respectively, at the fifth annual CCM High School National Invitation Tournament.
The tournament, which runs April 24-27 at the Plymouth (Minn.) Ice Center, matches teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Michigan and North Dakota.

Re: CCM NIT Team
Minnesota Hockey website article states:
"Two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams from Minnesota will compete in the tournament. The Minnesota HP 18 boys’ team will feature the top players from the recently completed Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance 18 Festival. The Minnesota Seniors boys’ team will be comprised of the most outstanding players from the 30th Annual Ted Brill Great 8 Tournament that took place March 21-23 at Wakota Arena in South St. Paul. The Minnesota 18U Girls’ team will feature the top players from the recently completed Junior Festival while Minnesota Seniors were selected after participating in the Senior Classic held by the Minnesota Girls’ High School Coaches Association."
Regarding the bold print above, did I miss something or is this simply incorrect? I had thought the Junior Festival is in June - and is being replaced this year by a new H.S. Showcase. I thought the 18U team is made up of Juniors who were too old to participate in the HP Advanced program this year (i.e. 1996 birth years - the selection process is a mystery to me, though). Am I wrong?

As mentioned earlier, the Minnesota Hockey website article states:powerplayer wrote:Just curious if anyone knows how they pick these teams, namely the senior team? Is it based on performance at the Senior Classic?

So if you can believe what is published, then yes - the Senior team is selected based on performance at the Senior Classic (although it doesn't directly say "performance"). Of course, the first part of the above sentence appears to be simply wrong...so I'm not really sure what to believe.

Is it possible that the girls were asked if they wanted to be evaluated during the Senior Classic, for selection to the NIT and MANY of them said no? Perhaps they didn't mention that to mom or dad. Just a thought.powerplayer wrote:Hmmmm. Top players....No, I don't believe it. (Politically) Selected....that I believe.
