Ryan Zuhlsdorf commits
Congrats to Ryan Zuhlsdorf on committing to the University of Minnesota according to his twitter post.
A very solid defenseman for the Hornets last year. With all the great sophomores Edina had last year with Bellows, Dornbach and Wait, Zuhlsdorf seemed to be overlooked at times on the backend.
Very deserving player and once again congratulations.

I had a chance to see the Hornet JV a couple of times and came away so impressed by one of the junior players on JV. I'm certain he'd be a top two line player on 90% of the teams in MN. Owen Palmer. Fast, smart, hard worker in all three zones, has a motor that never stops.Clarkkent wrote:Edina's depth players aren't on varsity they are on JV and even Jr Gold. Those teams would both compete with 70% of MN varsity teams. A young man committing to the U after his soph year in Edina is really impressive and well deserved.

Agree. He's one of a number of strong juniors that played JV and will fight with the youngsters for the last couple spots.C-dad wrote:I had a chance to see the Hornet JV a couple of times and came away so impressed by one of the junior players on JV. Good for Ryan - others do get more press, but he was solid this year.

Boe should be starting goalie. Similar size to Rohkol but most consider Boe to be a little bit better skill wise.WestMetro wrote:Edina will be loaded with talent in all 4 grades next year, but who will be the starting vs backup goalie, and what is sense how they compare with others around state (outside of Aherns, Driscoll , and Lingren)
The back-up spot will be interesting. If Giles goes off similar trends of having a back-up Junior goaltender than it will be Dunn. If he goes for probably the better goaltender at this point but meaning he would have two senior goaltenders than he would have Enriquez.
As for how Boe compares to the top goalies in the state, I don't know if he is on the same level as those guys because they're some very talented goalies but he should have no problem in net. Boe has the skills to put up great numbers, especially with the Defense he will have in front of him. At this time last year I had a much bigger question mark for Rohkol than I did for Boe.

Edina also had a nice D man on JV that was a junior that 'easily' should have made the varsity roster. Maybe some of this lesser connected overflow talent needs to seek opportunities outside of Edina or even Benilde if the kid really wants to play high school hockey. Sounds like there may be a couple of openings in the city of Hill Murray.
