Armstrong + Cooper
I might be late on this one but I never saw it posted on the board so I will mention it here. Cooper won't be able to field a team for next year so it sounds like they will be merging with Armstrong.
As pointed out to me, they are technically a co-op now...even though they will not take the Cooper name.
They will most likely lose Tre Rooney (I think there is a small chance he stays according to my "sources") but in the long run I think it will help ISD 281 a lot.
Kind of sad, I heard Cooper / Armstrong used to be relevant years back.

I was in New Hope Arena this Spring and was surprised to see all of the pictures of former Armstrong players that went on to Play D1, both men and women. Some of them overlapped in High School as well, so they must have had some good teams.MNHockeyFan wrote:Armstrong in particular. Their biggest problem back when they were very competitive was that they were in the same section as Edina.thefatcat wrote:Kind of sad, I heard Cooper / Armstrong used to be relevant years back.
Times inevitably change and it's kind of pointless to spend too much time wishing things were the way they used to be, but people old enough remember know that Armstrong had a very strong program throughout the 80s. At least seven Armstrong players saw some time in the NHL (Todd and Travis Richards, Dennis Vaske, Jordan Leopold, Dave Jensen, Steve Jensen, Derek Peltier), which is really pretty astounding for a team that never made a state tournament appearance.
