You know, when I read this I figured this was going to go down that well-skated lane lamenting how unfair it is for a "born and raised" kid who has grown up in the community system and waited their turn to play for their hometown high school team to lose their spot on the team when an outsider comes in his junior or senior year and poaches it. And how unfair it is to that's player's family, after the countless hours they've volunteered to the hometown program over the years and the sacrifices that they've made to the community and high school programs. But then...

Please tell me that I'm just in off-season form and didn't see the sarcasm behind this tongue-in-cheek comment? :?

If ever there is a case to be made for no transfers, period, this thread should do the trick.

No, this all started when a group of youth parents convinced the school board to oust the former coach, then had the school bring in their own guy as coach. Not too many people use Lakeville North and (pick your own term here) in the same sentance anymore, heck I can't rememeber a state tournament game where the majority of the crowd was actually cheering for Edina like last year.

U R Kidding right...parents leading programs and directing the roster outcome. Where was the tryout held and who was missed on the roster?

Not to borrow Almosts post from above but please tell me that I'm just in off-season form and missed the sarcasm behind Ugottabes reply? Goldy seemed pretty spot on. Maybe a bit more clarity needed on parents who are coaches. Just sayin.

Here is some more sarcasm to understand a point. If I'm a "off-season", player what transfer student rule offers placement that limits ability to play on a team? And what limits that player to participate?? ...or is Edina just that good?... :-s just sayin.

Goldy, you must not have been at the Finals between Edina and Lakeville North. When North scored their first 2 goals the place erupted and people were on their feet wih the thought that indeed Edina might be vulnerable. Certainly did not turn out that way........... it was only later when the crud started happening that things changed........

Let's simplify this...what gives the right of an individual, coach, or parent within a community based sporting activity to ordain a player from mites though Bantams into a HS roster position?...and who missed the transfer that has the talent?

Did goalies Oettinger, Dupont, Edquist and A Lindgren all come up through the Lakeville youth hockey system?

Oettinger - No (Farmington)
Dupont - Yes (Left for Holy Angels and came back for final two years)
Edquist - Sorta (I think he played in LV, not North, as a younger goalie, but left)
Lindgren - Yes (left for Eagan as a Freshman)
