CEC / Hermantown Hockey games...

Post by kniven »

...starting this year will be playing 2 games. I like it. A home game for each every year. Hopefully a permanent thing.

I wonder if this means Hermantown is looking into playing in 7AA?

I don't think Hermantown will be AA hockey anytime soon. I just think they realized that they have a AA hockey club in the Jacks right next door so why not play them a home and home game each year and drop Ashland or somebody from their schedule. AA hockey teams are a dying breed up in the north. East/CEC/Rapids/Roseau.

Hermantown has no interest in playing AA right now. Most of their High School players are still from Hermantown so they can justify staying in A. In the coming years when their top players aren't from Hermantown anymore then they will get pressure to move up.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Marshall go AA soon. To get to state in 7A, they have to beat a team in Hermantown that would be a 7AA contender every year anyway, so they might as well increase their drawing power by going AA.

On topic, it's great to see that the Hawks and Jacks get to mix it up twice a year. Should be some great games!

Who sought out the 2nd game? CEC or Hermantown?
