We have a healthy 23 participants for Big Games - Week 2. While six games were unanimously picked by our panel and many others were one-sided, several games were very evenly split, including Hill-Murray vs. Eden Prairie and East Grand Forks vs. Warroad.

As a reminder, I’ll provide an update after tonight’s games, but then likely not another update until Sunday PM, after all games have been completed. Good luck to all participants!

Wayzata defeated Rochester John Marshall 4-1. 22 out of 23 correctly predicted a Wayzata win and six respondents (Knight7, hockeyfan87, sinbin, Fisheye, hockeybozo, and mnhockey3535) also predicted the correct score. There are still 23 games to go, but nice start by this group.

All Big Games scores posted except for EGF-Warroad.

Also the C/C-Edina score (2-5) appears to be off slightly - the Hub shows 2-6.

The first "Biggest Game of the Week" did not disappoint as Eden Prairie edged Hill-Murray 4-3. 11 of our contestants got this one right, with D6GirlsFan picking up two extra bonus points for getting the correct score.

Breck routed South St. Paul 6-1. All contestants correctly predicted this one, with massalsa and u12dad adroitly picking the correct score.

Edina defeated Chaska/Chanhassen (I'm going with Hockey Hub since they list all the specific goals) 6-2. 22 of our entrants predicted this one correctly, but no one got the correct score.

Hopkins topped Orono 3-1. Again, 22 predictors were correct and no one nailed the correct score.

Blake defeated Mound Westonka 7-1. The outcome was unanimous, but no one quite got the score right.

Red Wing defeated St. Paul United 3-1 as 13 of you were correct. Further, hockeymaven, 36Guy, U10father, and D6girlsfan predicted the correct score.

Mounds View bested Stillwater 3-1 in quite the upset according to our panel, with only 5 correctly predicting that the Mustangs would corral the Ponies. No one was able to get the right score.

Warroad topped East Grand Forks 4-1 as our panel was split down the middle on this game, with 12 correctly predicting a Warriors victory. nu2hockey clearly "nu" the outcome of this game and picked up a bonus point.

In the final game from last night, Proctor/Hermantown defeated Hibbing/Chisholm 3-1, as 18 of our panelists predicted. Further, hockeyfan87 and hockeybozo correctly predicted the final score.

With 10 games down and 14 to go, we have some impressive results:

12 D6GirlsFan (9 out of 10 games correct and 3 bonus points)
11 hockeyfan87, hockeybozo (9 out of 10 games correct and 2 bonus points for each)
10 Hockeymaven, sinbin
9 mnhockey3535, nu2hockey
8 Knight7, clutterbucket, U10father, panpan111, Fisheye, The Bone
7 8 others, Conventional Wisdom
6 2 others

Interestingly, the scores were such that Conventional Wisdom predicted a number of ties. (I round to the nearest integer for each team's score.)

Again, I'll update the final results Sunday PM, just to let the suspense build. Although most of the remaining games show fairly one-sided predictions, there is enough variance in scores, plus one more BGotW, that the race is still wide open. Good luck to all.

I see that shots were 39-17 Edina, so it appears that goaltending played a major role in determining the winner.

Seemed closer than the shots would indicate. Good intense game! And thanks to Edina providing pizza for our team afterwards.

Great game to watch as always. I think only one person picked Roseau to win that game. And pizza after the game sound like a Roseau / Edina thing, seems to be happening more often the past years.

It wasn't me, unfortunately - I had the Hornets winning 2-1 - but after the Rams beat Minnetonka you knew they're for real.

I'm thinking the only other team that might have a realistic chance to beat both Tonka and Edina this season might be Eden Prairie, once they get into the Lake Conference schedule. Some difficult "pick 'em" games lie ahead!

Didn't I read somewhere on the here that Roseau had 1 or 2 player transfer to BE prior to the season? Amazing that they can field a girls teams that has beaten these two Lake powers.

It was a fun game to watch, Rams score 1st then Hornets would score to tie. When the Rams scored 4th goal the shots were 36-11.
Rams goaltender played well. The Hornets controlled play all game , but, when Edina made a defensive mistake Roseau made them pay.
Two of the Rams goals were wicked top shelf corners . Absolutely beautiful. The pizza party is a class act.
Two good teams with nice fans.

Thought I saw that. Was this a big loss for Roseau? They appear to be a decent squad, rattling a few cages of the Metro Elite or perceived elite.

The metro elite teams are good but can and will lose some games this year. Not sure what's going on at HM but I'm sure they will be in it at the end. Tonka-Edina-Lakeville-MG and the rest of them will lose some games. EP is the real deal. My prediction is some new kids on the block are hungry and they will be eating this year. Breck and Blake should be playing AA. The Wolfman will see you at the rink.

What's going on with Hill Murray is that their first three games are really hard. Hill could start 0-3 and finish 22-3. I wouldn't be shocked.

Eden Prairie played poorly against Blake. Lucky for them Blake took the same day off. They won't be so lucky next time.

I agree with the Wolfman that Blake should play AA. They have a AA regular season schedule and are competitive. I know the girls would like a chance to show they are the best in the state.
