Holy Family beats Maple Grove 4-2 in the 3rd place game.

On second viewing, Holy Family was noticeably better, despite losing John Peterson to a 5-and-game in the 1st period. No deer in the headlights look tonight. They're better than the score yesterday showed, though we'll wait for a few more results to say just how much better.

Maple Grove is reasonably deep, but takes way too many penalties, and will need to find goals out of someone other than Passolt. They're decent in many areas, but don't stand out in any, either. This was a somewhat disappointing showing for them, and they'd better figure things out soon, because their December schedule is brutal.

Edina and Wayzata tie 3-3; Edina wins the shootout 2-1 to claim the Turkey Trot title.

Edina doubled up Wayata in shots, but the Trojans held their own for the most part, especially in the 2nd and 3rd periods. As has been the case recently, Edina can get penalty-happy; Wait was one away from an ejection, and the 3rd period Wayzata goal was on the power play. On the flip side, they got a SHG by Malmquist, and Mismash really got under the Trojans' skin and drew a couple penalties by inciting them to retaliate. Their PP isn't really clicking yet, either; if they get that going, they'll be even tougher to beat.

Still, lots of positives for Wayzata in this one. Unlike so many other teams that panic and press when they fall behind the Hornets, they stuck with it and showed they can skate with them. They have some youth in that lineup, so we'll see how they come along. These teams' meetings in Lake Conference play should be some real wars.

In turn back the clock 30 years game Kennedy beat John Marshall 3-2.

Century beat Dodge County 7-0, in an early prediction Century wins 20+ games this year. Their schedule is brutally bad with maybe one game against the top 50 in the state (Farmington).

How Karl(antisection1East) deals with the Panthers will be interesting. :D
