A night of upsets, so not much scoring in general, but several of you took advantage of that and surged out ahead of the rest of us.
In our first game of the evening, Eden Prairie and Hopkins tied 1-1. All of our esteemed panel predicted an Eagle victory, almost all of them by a 2 goal or greater margin.
Things returned truer to form with an Edina 4-0 victory over Buffalo. All of us predicted the Hornet win, while hockeymaven and hugo_lucas picked up bonus points for predicting the correct score.
In the second upset of the evening, Wayzata edged Minnetonka 2-1 in overtime. Again, we were incorrectly unanimous in predicting a Skipper win, so no points awarded.
Roseau doubled up East Grand Forks 4-2. All but one predicted this outcome and it seems that everyone but me got the correct score: hockeymaven, 36Guy, U10father, D6GirlsFan, Nordic, spars46, and otter.
By the same score of 4-2, Orono used 3 3rd-period goals to defeat Red Wing. Only 3 members of our illustrious group astutely picked the Spartans to be victorious in battle.
Mercifully for many of us, the evening finally came to an end with another upset as Blaine shut out Champlin Park 4-0. Only 6 of our group were prescient enough to foresee this result, but no correct scores.
After night 1, we have the following standings:
4 36Guy, Hockeymaven, otter
3 Conventional Wisdom, D6GirlsFan, hockeyfan87, hugo_lucas, Knight7, mnhockey3535, Nordic, nu2hockey, panpan111, rascalbrock, spars46, The Bone, U10father

Another slightly odd evening with a trio of 2-1 games. In the first game, Hopkins nipped Edina 2-1 to the surprise of everyone on the panel. It looks like Williamson has been missing from the box score for several games and that may be putting a damper on the Hornets' scoring.
In the second 2-1 game, Lakeville South edged Lakeville North for the battle of Lakeville and the South Suburban conference supremacy and, most importantly, our Biggest Game of the Week. 15 of us were correct in this outcome, but no one had the correct score.
The next game was an aberration, a 3-1 victory by Orono over New Prague. Only 8 of us got this correct, with a newcomer, hockey21, also hitting the correct score.
The final game of the night had Benilde-St. Margaret's also defeating Buffalo by a 2-1 margin. 11 of us correctly predicted this with hockeymaven also nailing the correct score. Incidentally, hockeymaven has 4 correct picks so far this week (in a week of upsets) and 3 correct scores. Which brings us to the standings heading into the weekend.
7 Hockeymaven
6 hockeyfan87, otter, rascalbrock, 36Guy
5 blondegirlsdad, D6GirlsFan, hockey21, Knight7, U10father
4 Conventioal Wisdom, hockeybozo, mnhockey3535, Nordic, nu2hockey, panpan111, spars46, The Bone

Good luck the rest of the way.

Williamson has been out since the game with Hill, hopefully be back soon. Edina had a couple more out, including the number one goalie. Hopkins was also missing a couple of key kids the last week or so. Tis the season, scrub down those locker rooms and dont share water bottles. Lake is setting up to be pretty interesting after the break with everyone trading wins so far.sinbin wrote:Another slightly odd evening with a trio of 2-1 games. One game on the docket last night as Proctor/Hermantown doubled up Mound Westonka 4-2, 17 out of 24 of us were correct, with hockeybozo also getting the correct score. This outcome results in a slight change to the leaderboard as follows:
7 Hockeymaven, otter, rascalbrock
6 blondegirlsdad, D6GirlsFan, hockey21, hockeybozo, hockeyfan87, Knight7
5 36Guy, Conventional Wisdom, mnhockey3535, Nordic, nu2hockey, panpan111, spars46, The Bone, U10father
4 3 others
3 2 others
2 2 others
It's still anybody's contest right now with 6 games remaining to be played. Although most of them are very one-sided, there are plenty of opportunities for correct scores. Good luck to all.

A night of some crazy (8's) scores, but few surprises.
In the first game, Breck edged Red Wing 3-2. We were unanimous in that prediction, but no one expected that close of a result.
In the next game, the Royals proved to be a favored color over the Cardinals, as Hopkins routed Alexandria 8-0. Four different Hopkins players scored 2 goals each to lead the "balanced" attack. All of us predicted Hopkins as a winner, but no one was close to that score.
In the third game, Minnetonka doubled up Buffalo 8-4. Minnetonka scored 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to pull away. 6 different Skippers scored to drive the stampede over the Bison. Our esteemed panel was unanimous in this prediction, but again no one was close to the correct score.
Hill-Murray also doubled up its opponent, Dodge County, but by a score of 4-2. All but 4 of us predicted the H-M win while clutterbucket, massalsa, D6GirlsFan, Nordic, and The Bone also nailed the correct score.
In the penultimate game of the day, Eden Prairie overcame Wayzata 3-2 in overtime. We were again unanimous in predicting an Eagle victory, but no one was able to claim the correct score.
The final game of the day was the one upset according to our group, as St. Paul United nipped Benilde St. Margaret's 2-1. nu2hockey picked up 2 points on most of the field by being one of only 4 to predict a SPU win as well as being the only one to hit the correct score.
The final standings are therefore:
13 otter
12 D6GirlsFan, hockeymaven, nu2hockey, rascalbrock
11 blondegirlsdad, hockey21, hockeyfan87, Knight7, mnhockey3535, Nordic, The Bone
10 5 others, Conventional Wisdom

Congratulations to otter on his win and to all other participants for pushing otter to new heights. A busy two weeks ahead with a very brief Week 7, followed by the Holiday tournaments challenge.
