So I assume you have Luverne as the 4th or 5th because they didn't win the Open? I'd like to see your New Year seedings.Section 3A HockeyScout wrote:LDC 5

Only thing more laughable is docs post on the youth forum about Kraft!
I think Kraft should donate all the funds to doc for research on a bigger noodle for you!
Fresh out of the BOX!

Next week is a huge week of Section 3A games that will give a pretty clear picture of the seeds.
At the Moment here is how I see it. As far as rankings
1. Hutchinson: The clear front runner and yes Cowger is a very good player. However New Ulm tie will haunt in seedings
2. Luverne: Not playing Hutch or LDC will hurt them come seeding
3. LDC: If they beat New Ulm this coming Saturday they are locked in as a top 3 seed.
4. Marshall: They have beaten New Ulm head to head play again Thursday BIG Game for the Tigers.
5. New Ulm- Huge week for the Eagles if they beat both Marshall and LDC this week they will move up to 3.
6. Willmar: Have a big match up with Luverne at home on Saturday very TOUGH 6 seed at this point. Still have Marshall & New Ulm Left also.
7. Redwood Valley- Best of the Rest
8. Morris Benson- Will need to beat Windom in the Rematch but look solid for this seed.
9. Windom- Need to beat Fairmont the next time around
10. Fairmont- Can move up with a Sweep of Windom
11. Worthington- Will have a chance to beat Fairmont or Windom otherwise they will go winless.
If you asked me what the seeds are at the END of the year...
My Prediction
1. Luverne
2. Hutchinson
3. New Ulm
4. LDC
5. Willmar
6. Marshall
7. Redwood
8. Morris Benson
9. Windom
10. Fairmont
11. Worthington
Next week I will have a much clearer picture of how things are going to fall .

So it's Luvernes fault that they won't go to Hutch anymore? How many trips up north does the Red Army have to make? Shouldn't it also hurt Hutch and LSD, because neither of them are playing Luverne? Props to Willmar, they'll make the trip down and Luverne will repay the favor as well. So that's a BS point.Section 3A HockeyScout wrote:Next week is a huge week of Section 3A games that will give a pretty clear picture of the seeds.

I'd probably choose the top end section Match-up (Hutch) over St. Paul Johnson, unless its hockey day. Then its a no brainer, you take Hockey Day. Especially when Hutch so arrogantly dismisses the possibility of even considering traveling to play in Luverne.lamplighter98 wrote:So would Luverne rather play CRutch and LSD or play Totino Grace and St. Paul Johnson? That's a tough one.

absolutely, you can NOT, NOT play in Hockey Day. Playing Crutch and the Pizza Rolls, would possibly quite down the Scout, but that's not how it goes. I just find it pathetic that they talk a big game, but won't commit to drive down here, when the 5th place team in the STATE made the trek down here. I even find Hutchs hockey twitter is so arrogant.notTONIGHT wrote:I'd probably choose the top end section Match-up (Hutch) over St. Paul Johnson, unless its hockey day. Years ago ,they used to play non conference games against each other but that changed thru the years, but now NP is in the W Cty conference since the Missota Dissolved last year.MrGoalieBoy wrote:Has Litchfield always played new prague? In 3A Hutch and Litch are pretty similar, slight edge to Hutch, New Ulm and Marshall a tier below them, then the bottom feeders. New Prague is at the top echelon of their section.
Should have been expected.

IF anyone should be rooting for teams in this section to play well outside of it is you Luverne folk who are bashing, lording, and attempting to create some type of egotistical elitist separation of yourselves above the rest of the section.
HERE IS THE POINT.
My point is this: Teams in this section need to start playing competitively against big dogs (or even medium sized dogs) from other sections. The posts above from the red hat ladies have a snide connotation, be honest you are rooting against any team in this section when they play out of section games. Stop doing that, unless you yourselves don't want to be taken seriously.
HERE IS THE EVIDENCE.
I have regular interaction with players on elite teams in section 8AA (no name dropping) as well as many hockey heads, coaches, a few miles north of section 3A. Teams in 3A get lip service up here... New Ulm beating West Fargo, Luverne, Marshall, etc..... However the lip service usually has a negative connotation.
People up here are checking the stat sheets. Mixed reactions ensue when players like Chaz Smedsrud are atop the points leaders. Frequent comments include but are not limited to:
"who the #$%^ is Chaz Smedsrud"
"There should be separate stats for players on teams like that."
"Section 3A sucks, what do you expect."
"They dont play anybody." etc... you get the picture.
CONCLUSION
Rooting against the teams in your section doesn't make you look better. It makes you look worse. The more competitive the teams in your section look the more competitive you look. Knowing this, the only reason I could see for an individual to wish poorly of another team and their out of section play is if they themselves are fearful that their inadequacies may be exposed and that they are not as superior as they require the recognition of.
LDC losing 10-0 doesn't just make Litch look bad, it makes everyone look bad. It invalidates the achievements of teams like Luverne, Hutch, New Ulm etc.
.....
Fargo Davies tied West Fargo last night 4-4 ...... Rivalry game.... 3A teams would compete decently with mid/upper-tier North Dakota Teams.[/b]

I don't think anyone was bashing L/D/C, they were just stating the obvious. So if Luverne went out and played EGF, I know darn well that Hutch is going to be bashing Luverne all day, hoping that they get thumped. Also, if the kids that were knocking 3A were down here playing teams like Worthington, Fairmont, Windom and putting up some gaudy numbers, do you think that they're gonna ask to be put on a separate division for scoring? doubt it!Bettman's Bender wrote:Get off the high horse Luverne folk. 10-0 is a surprising score.notTONIGHT wrote:That shouldnt be a real stunning final to anyone, should it?Whiner33 wrote: Np 10-LDC 0 hmmm....

Woah Bettman. Hang onto your hat which must not be red. I am sure the Luverne faithful will crucify you. We must talk to the same people because I get the same questions and comments up here. Most people who know anything about hockey are not impressed by the huge point numbers put up by 3A. That being said, what are those kids supposed to to? Stop playing? Shooting? That is also disrespectful to your opponent. And I won't even bring up the idea of having 3/4 lines run the game since that got ME scalded last season. Oh wait.... I guess I did bring it up. The red hat crowd just doesn't seem to get the fact that all they do is put an enormous target on the back of their team and players so that they get no respect when they win and hammered if they drop a game. But they seem to enjoy it and it is entertaining for the rest of us at times.

Is it the fault of the teams that put up gaudy numbers against inferior teams? I'm talking about the top teams that play in 3A. Are they just supposed to win by 1,2,3 or 4 goals in every game for the sake of keeping it close for the opp.? dumbing down yourselfs for the betterment of sportsmanship? (what a noble concept) I believe that teams like Luverne, NU, Hutch can skate with other teams in other sections, as Luverne proved this year playing TG, and SPA.

Bettman was the worst when he had brothers on Marshall he used to bash all other programs on here on the daily in these threads.
Really wish my sleeper LDC would of put up a better fight against New Prague but those a learning moments and it looks like Section 1A is still superior to 3A but I do think that gap is closing rapidly.
