That shouldnt be a real stunning final to anyone, should it?

In 3A Hutch and Litch are pretty similar, slight edge to Hutch, New Ulm and Marshall a tier below them, then the bottom feeders. New Prague is at the top echelon of their section.

Should have been expected.
Get off the high horse Luverne folk. 10-0 is a surprising score.

IF anyone should be rooting for teams in this section to play well outside of it is you Luverne folk who are bashing, lording, and attempting to create some type of egotistical elitist separation of yourselves above the rest of the section.

HERE IS THE POINT.
My point is this: Teams in this section need to start playing competitively against big dogs (or even medium sized dogs) from other sections. The posts above from the red hat ladies have a snide connotation, be honest you are rooting against any team in this section when they play out of section games. Stop doing that, unless you yourselves don't want to be taken seriously.

HERE IS THE EVIDENCE.
I have regular interaction with players on elite teams in section 8AA (no name dropping) as well as many hockey heads, coaches, a few miles north of section 3A. Teams in 3A get lip service up here... New Ulm beating West Fargo, Luverne, Marshall, etc..... However the lip service usually has a negative connotation.
People up here are checking the stat sheets. Mixed reactions ensue when players like Chaz Smedsrud are atop the points leaders. Frequent comments include but are not limited to:
"who the #$%^ is Chaz Smedsrud"
"There should be separate stats for players on teams like that."
"Section 3A sucks, what do you expect."
"They dont play anybody." etc... you get the picture.

CONCLUSION
Rooting against the teams in your section doesn't make you look better. It makes you look worse. The more competitive the teams in your section look the more competitive you look. Knowing this, the only reason I could see for an individual to wish poorly of another team and their out of section play is if they themselves are fearful that their inadequacies may be exposed and that they are not as superior as they require the recognition of.

LDC losing 10-0 doesn't just make Litch look bad, it makes everyone look bad. It invalidates the achievements of teams like Luverne, Hutch, New Ulm etc.

.....

Fargo Davies tied West Fargo last night 4-4 ...... Rivalry game.... 3A teams would compete decently with mid/upper-tier North Dakota Teams.[/b]
I wasn't cheering for New Prague in that game. I just said it didn't surprise me Litch got rolled.

Here is a better question you and your 8A buddies can discuss while you wear your nametag... What the *%*^ is a cobber anyway??

Rumor has it that Setterholm is coaching his last season in New Ulm.

I'm not sure if this is good or bad news for not tonight & 3A. Probably doesn't matter as they will most likely find something else to continue their verbal slap fight over.

How many consecutive seasons can that rumor still be considered a rumor?

1. Didnt say Anyone should stop shooting against the bottom feeders.

2. Didnt say it was a disgrace that Luverne players are leading the state in points. (others say it, not I)

3. I do think there is a point where you start to roll 4 lines in a game but that is neither here nor there.

4. A Cobber is probably what all the hippies are warning us about with these GMO's.

5. Moorhead is in 8AA, Davies is in the EDC.

6. All I am saying is in order for the teams and players within the section to be respected the teams need to be competitive. Therefore it is in everyone's best interest to wish well for fellow section 3A teams in out of section play.

UNLESS the reason for all the frustration and hard feeling is that the other teams/communities in said section (who collectively REFUSED to play A hockey at the younger levels for YEARS) are now whining about being left behind / and not competitive when that very result was WARNED for MANY MANY years, falling on deaf-eared "leaders"... and the MAIN leader of the Deafness LIVES in Marshall. Luverne supported that AREA of the State by playing at the groups desired B level, AND ALSO fielded A level teams (some with as few as 9 players) that put on a Bazillion miles traveling, pulled the cash out of their own pockets, and PUT IN THE TIME and EFFORT to reach better competition. Now they are reaping the benefits of putting in the time, travel, and dollars and all I hear is your lip. Tired of it Bender. Time to dismount your High Horse.

I fail to see how I am roasted here at all....

I must be riding the same horse as you guys. I think it is absolutely pathetic that towns like MARSHALL dont play A level hockey... or AA for that matter nowadays. I also believe that the ADM is a great tool but towns like MARSHALL have refused to follow it at times.... PARENTS (especially the ones that run hockey associations) ALWAYS KNOW BETTER DON'T THEY? ... LOL ...

I still don't think it does any good to root against your section. Although I understand the frustration with those who insist on running their associations and consequently the entire section into the ground by playing B hockey and refusing to focus on proper skill and system development over having a nice flashy record...... Marshall.....

Also The above post is very interesting! What is an LSQ rank?

I guess that ends this notion of Hutch being a "Favorite". Barely even a a challenger at this point...

I don't think the imperious (For you bettman: https://www.google.com/search?espv=2&bi ... CCcQ_SowAA) Scout can even deny Luverne is the favorite in the section at this point. It certainly doesn't guarantee anything, but this section goes through BMIA at this point. We find out Tuesday if Hutch is a notch above Litch or not. Litch tied New Ulm today, not exactly a sterling way to go into the Hutch game.

The way I see it now

1. Luverne : Won all Section games by 3 + goals
2. Litch : Tied New Ulm, Beat St. Peter 8-2
3. Hutch : Hasnt been beaten in the section but tied New Ulm and got beat by St. Peter
4. Marshall : They Beat New Ulm
5. New Ulm : Tied Hutch and Litch but Lost to Marshall
6. Willmar : Hasnt beat anyone but Windom and Morris
7. Morris : Beat Windom
8. Windom: Lost to Willmar and Morris
9. Redwood : Pulled the goalie against Luverne
10. Fairmont : Their lone win is Windom
11. Worthington : Couldnt beat Fairmont

Hutch and Litch will sort themselves out Tuesday, making the common opponent of St. Peter less of a measuring stick. New Ulm can still surpass Marshall if they beat them in Marshall on 22 January.

The way i see it ending

1. Luverne
2. Hutch
3. Litch
4. New Ulm
5. Marshall
6. Willmar
7. Morris
8. Windom
9. Redwood
10. Fairmont
11. Worthington

Embarrassing effort by Hutch yesterday on their home ice against a the Big South's St. Peter. Not sure what is going on but heard some unrest in the stands yesterday about the current goaltending issue again this year. Seems the Coach wants to play his 9th grade Nephew over the incumbent Junior. Been giving up a lot of goals as of late.

They have a HUGE game on Tuesday vs. LDC. Speaking of LDC nice tie over New Ulm if they win Tuesday they are looking at a 2 seed. Been a very good rebound year in Dragon Country. They have a Huge Junior Class will be very tough next year. Again the theme of this Section their goaltending has struggled this year.

Morris/Benson is starting to move up the lower portion of the Section they are locked in at the 8 seed with a good 6-3 win over Windom. Speaking of Windom not sure what has happened there but their 5-2 loss to Fairmont speaks volumes to the state of their program. Morris Benson is has match ups with Redwood yet to battle for the 7 seed.

New Ulm is a mess right now. They only lost two kids from last year's Section Final team. They look like a shell of themselves right now. Struggling to put 51 minute game together as of late. They could be as low as a 5 seed right now!?!?!?!

Team with the most to gain is Marshall they still have match ups with New Ulm, Luverne and Willmar at home and key game with LDC in Litch. They could easily move into a 3 seed or possible 2 seed if they win those games. No matter what they can gain a home playoff game with a few big home wins in the 2nd half of the season.

Willmar looks down and will be a 6 or a 5 seed. They lost a huge senior class and their coach. Is the Hub correct did they really get out shot 55-18 by Luverne in Willmar last night?!?!?! If true that is an ugly effort by a once very proud hardworking program.

Finally, to the Luverne faithful on here it is indeed your Section to lose now. They look to be on track for a number one seed. Their two losses are to top 8 Class A team in St Paul Academy (Who beat Breck earlier this week) & the Kennedy loss is looking more respectable (Kennedy knocked off Blake earlier this week) and has won 6 games in row now. That being said this Luverne looks more beatable this year they are giving up a lot of goals. If you look at their actual contests where they played a decent teams they are giving up an average of 3 goals. Come playoffs it gets tougher to out score teams.

Section 3A Seeds as of Today (1-11-15)
1- Luverne
2- Hutchinson
3- LDC
4- Marshall
5- New Ulm
6- Willmar
7- Redwood Valley
8- Morris Benson
9- Windom
10- Fairmont
11- Worthington

Lot of hockey yet to be played but things are starting to get more settled we are getting closer and closer to playoffs. Looking at the goaltending situation of most clubs down in 3A it could be a wild playoff!!

Some people are telling me that Fairmont has the best goalie in the section this year.

Could be true, seems like some of the big squads are having trouble keeping it out of the net.

True Bettman the top tender is Cunning from Fairmont. Takes around 50 to 60 shots a night and keeps things respectable

Actually the Section Playoffs go through GAC. Neutral site for the Semis and Finals.

GAC has been a HOUSE OF HORRORS for Luverne in past playoff years. Last year they were fortunate to get to play in the band box in Mankato for the Final wont get that this year IF they even make the final
