Rapids has some work to do this weekend.
Any news on Keirstedt from ER? last I heard he left a game and did not return. That might be the big factor there if he does not return. He is the strongest D in the section IMHO and if he is not back when they play East and if you go by the idea that even a blind squirrel finds a nut once and awhile East could win that game which would really give them some ammo.

Hang on kids, let's get our math right. The streak's at 6 in a row.Mouse in the corner wrote:That was then, this is now......Slammer wrote:Remember, that "blind squirrel" you are talking about has been to state 5 times in a row...Mouse in the corner wrote: Without a doubt he will try to make that argument but I think the fact that GR pretty well handled East at the end of the season will be the tie breaker and GR should get the #2 seed.

If East's rivals would like to think that any big East wins down the stretch are "blind squirrel" incidents, I'm certainly not going to discourage them from thinking that.
Meanwhile, we all know that any big wins by Rapids are obviously signs that they're finally living up to their great potential, while any losses or ties that set them back are just flukes.

Fluke
Yes, I was giving you the fluke goal that East scored at the end of the game. And I agree with you it was. But for the rest of the game GR owned them. Therefore, I think GR is the #2 seed.
Owned? The rest of the game? Grand Rapids owned East during the 1st period, yes. They scored the only goal of the 2nd period also, but didn't own anyone. In fact, over the last two periods of the game, Rapids was outshot 23-8. An undisciplined penalty right after Easts lone goal took the wind out of their sails and Rapids fans breathed a collective sigh of relief after their pp goal because they were worried. Add an empty netter and those were the only 2 shots Rapids registered in the 3rd period.
Rapids may very well get the #2 seed and at this point if I had to vote, that's where I would put them too. #1 ER, #2 GR, #DE, #4 STMA. I get it, we're all rabid fans of our beloved teams, but let's not get crazy and think that because they scored 5 goals (1 en) that they dominated the whole game. I'm looking forward a possible semi final Saturday rematch because the East team that has showed up the last 5 games is nothing like the team that played Rapids that night.

Agreed on much of what you said. Seems like many of the Rapids fans are like this years team...erratic and incapable of honest analysis. I am hoping the players from GR settle down and perform like they at least have the potential to do. Some of us Rapids followers actually are calling it like it is instead of swinging back and forth like a pendulum. I think they have a legitimate shot but they have to show up. But they are NOT out of the hunt. We will see.....

Well, there you have it Grand Rapids fans. I think we have been thoroughly put in our place. Given our penchant for bipolar Grand Rapids chauvinism, we appear to dominate the message boards and annoy the fans of other teams. I am going to give them their due regard and lay off for a suitable amount of time.

Hey, how about those Thunderhawks?! I think they are getting their act together and are about to dominate the section and state. And, if not (Grand Rapids), then I (Grand Rapids) will root for any Section 7 (Grand Rapids) team or other northern Minnesota (Grand Rapids) team who happens to be at (Grand Rapids) the X (Grand Rapids). Of course, the past (Grand Rapids) few years it has (Grand Rapids) almost become a habit (Grand Rapids) to route for (Grand Rapids) Duluth East (Grand Rapids). Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids...

How are they not the 3 cede is the real question here. Because they lost an OT road game to East, they can only be a 4 cede? What a joke. The strength of schedule is a BIT weaker than GR and East but what else do you have? I don't buy the "East beat them so they are automatically ahead of them" argument. If Andover beat ER would they have to get the 1 cede? It makes no sense. Those supposed 2 and 3 cedes are .500 clubs.Houndhockey wrote:3rd seed? How do you figure? Maybe had they beaten DE. That schedule though, it's just too weak.Mazak55 wrote:Still looking like STMA is the 3 cede.
As for the "what line are you on?" question, really? Nice attempt at discrediting a valid argument. I'm a 42 year old man ( who isn't the parent of a hockey player) who see's through the attempted rubber stamping of these storied hockey programs! Yes, GR and East have done well in the past, congratulations! How about ceding on what a team is this season! The records speak volumes about the various programs THIS year.

You have no clue man. STMA I think is a good club, but SOS plays a huge part, I mean who wouldn't be 14-3 with that pathetic schedule. Losing to Monticello is inexcusable if you're trying to argue ahead of East or Rapids.Mazak55 wrote:How are they not the 3 cede is the real question here. Not sure how anyone can argue for STMA to get the 3 seed (not cede). They have no quality wins, unless you somehow count Anoka as a quality win. They have done a good job of beating up on the perennial doormats of 7AA (Forest Lake, St. Francis, Andover, and Cambridge-Isanti). So I would understand an argument for a 4 or 5 seed (again not cede). The strongest opponent STMA has played this year is Duluth East, who everyone seems to agree is having quite the down year, and they lost that game. There is no way that STMA will get the 3 seed (nope, not cede). The best they can hope for is a 4 seed (not cede) with a win against Cloquet on February 10.
Give STMA 2 and put Rapids at 3. Then Rapids can "upset" STMA at AMSOIL by four.Mazak55 wrote:How are they not the 3 cede is the real question here.
