1. Elk River- Beat East and should anonymously receive 1st seed
2. Grand Rapids.- Has 2 seed locked up. The win against CEC cancels out the loss IMO
3. Duluth East- Is the 3 seed unless the beat Elk River. That would throw a wrench into the top 3
4. St. Michael/Albertville- A win or tie against CEC locks up home ice in the quarters. Even have an argument with a loss to CEC
5. Forest Lake- Has the 5 seed if they can beat Andover
6. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton- Needs Forest Lake to lose to Andover or they need to beat STMA if they want the 5.
7. Andover- Need to beat Flake or they will be in GR on the 17th of February
8-9. Winner of the St. Francis and Cambridge/Isanti gets home ice on Valentines Day.

On STMA. There is no way in hell that they can get the 3 seed. Even if CEC beats East, East beat them earlier so the games cancel each other out IMO. STMA lost the East and East lost to Rapids and Rapids lost to ER. There is absolutely no logic behind STMA gettting the 3 seed. Hopefully the can get to AMSOIL and knock off ER on the 21st and make some noise in sections to improve their schedule. Would like to see them schedule ER and GR if they stay in 7AA.
Really good take. I totally agree with this.

Rapids played one line to death, looked shakey in back and
2 out of the first three goals were soft. WBL looked pretty good and their tender made some nice saves early..

It appeared Rapids was tired after playing on Plymouths big rink the night before vs Wayzata but that is no excuse at this point in the season. White Bear has a nice team and took it to Rapids. This team has a ton of potential but must aggressively forecheck while staying out of the penalty box to achieve it.

You right no excuses. WBL had no cake walk the night before in losing to Hermantown in a competitive game until the end. If you can't put two competitive games together in two days your not going very far.

This wouldn't come into play until the state tournament. For most teams, getting to the X is going pretty far.

I was referring to the Olympic sized sheet of ice and the fast paced up and down the ice game. Wayzata seemed to get tired in the 3rd period while Rapids still had legs and had their better chances. The game at Vadnais was played on their smaller than average sized rink and the Bears took full advantage of it. They were ready to play and deserved to win. I think they will give Hill a run for their money.

Smaller than average? The rink is NHL regulation sized. 200x85

Back on January 14th you agreed with Curtiscuve and his analysis of the balance of the years games.. In which he said that STMA would lose at Buffalo.. If you agreed as you so said why are you surprised about the OT..

So it looks as STMA won a game that you thought they were gonna lose...hmmm

Hopefully they prove you wrong again vs Breck next week
My quote was "Nice breakdown Mr. Curve". Not sure where you pulled 1 game out of his full section analysis.

Just the way I took it is all, no biggie.

And yes the STMA vs Buffalo did go do overtime. Which could be expected as these 2 teams do not like each other (in every sport) and no matter how much better either one is it will usually be a hard fought physical game.. The reffing was absolutely horrible both ways (which is evident if you were to listen to radio broadcast). And this game meant a lot to both teams because of STMA's bad lose to Monticello and that Buffalo was undefeated in conference play.

Maybe after watching a game on the Olympic sheet it just seemed small. Nice complex but metro arenas just don't hold a candle to the atmosphere generated by thousands of fans in the old barns up north. Now if they only had an attached restaurant/bar. :D

Elk River and Grand Rapids IMO are right now 1 and 2 and even that could change.

East and STMA IMO are 3 and 4 but not sure which is which.

East does play a thougher schedule than STMA and did beat them (being an OT game on home ice where East scored late to tie)

STMA needs to beat Cloquet and not stumble anywhere down the road (a win versus Breck this week would go along way).

East could end up as a below .500 team when all is said and done or a decent record with some good wins...Yes they play tougher games but that means nothing if you don't win some..

If Duluth gets some big wins coming up I can see them 3 and STMA 4...

If Duluth plays average hockey or poorly and STMA wins I can see STMA at 3 and East at 4 (even with the close head to head OT game).

If Cloquet can Beat East and STMA then it's all gonna be a mess..

I think all the other teams are right now on the outside looking in and hoping for some kind of break..

Just my 2 cents for now..

Easy. East could have "easily won that game". How else could it be?

Same here! Cloquet also beat Marshall last night. Might be a good chance East gets the 5 and has to play at #4 CEC.

The only way to get better than the #4 seed is to win at Elk River Saturday. Lose that game and at Cloquet and the Hounds are on the road back to Cloquet in a few weeks as the #5 seed.

SO IT IS WRITTEN, SO IT WILL BE DONE.

Might wanna go look by Split Rock Lighthouse…LOL. If there was a HS hockey radio show on KFAN, Slammer would sound like this after the quarterfinals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zgAFX2yyR4

I don't think the #3 seed will take a win against ER, although it would likely lock it up. Beating Cloquet again coupled with the lack of SOS for STMA means DE is still #3 and plays the #6 seed.

Elk River/Zimmerman
St. Michael-Albertville
Duluth East
Grand Rapids
C-E-C
Forest Lake
Andover
Cambridge-Isanti
St. Francis

Rumor is that Section 7 has coaches that are pushing for QRF for ceding.
that would give us the above (as of today).

That would seem to be inappropriate (at least from where I sit).
