Edina vs Eden Prarie 1/29/15

Post by Tron »

Edina came out of the gates on fire. Very Physical early-on, #16 with Edina took a 10 minute game misconduct in the first period and didn't play another second the entire game. Score was 5-0 at the end of 3. I would have thought EP would have stepped it up a bit especially on home ice. The Garrett Waite, Malmquist line is the real deal. 2 Goals for Malmquist.

Malmquist got two early, and EP never recovered

Fact the Edina kept going fine without Mish is another indication of their depth.

Meyer and Foley have been standing tall for Hornets all year at the blue line without much press, and helped keep Graham and Middlestadt from ever really getting started. Also nice to see them pick up one each.

Smith played G & M on separate lines early in the game, back on same line later in the game but nothing seemed to work. And when it did, Boe shut it down.

Malmquist also played his usual great PK game. Hornets are almost as dangerous shorthanded as they are at full strength.

Giles using his usual late Jan/Feb strategy of giving whole team ice time to gear up experience for playoffs.

In the end, the better team won by more than the predicted margin.

Of course upsets are the order of February & March, which may throw a wrench into everything, but it really does seem like the Hornets & Lakeville North are on a collision course for Saturday night at the X.

Possibly best HS penalty killer I have ever seen.

I think it was a straight 10 minute misconduct and not a game misconduct since he wasn't sent to the locker room.
I think it was the coach's decision to bench him..
Curious to set how long he is in the doghouse

He has been in the doghouse 2 or 3 games this year where they decide to sit him. He usually plays the next day. I think it's a smart move to get his emotion in check when he gets a little off his agitator role and more into a liability. He tends to bounce back pretty well

I dot get the agitator role out there. It's a good hockey team, they don't need that stuff. From what I hear he is an extremely talented hockey player. His parents need to tell him to play hockey and stop acting like an idiot.

What makes him such a good hockey player is how he plays the game. He probably draws more penalties from the other teams than any other player in the state. If he doesn't play that role he probably is not "an extremely talented hockey player"
There is more than one way to play hockey, it is okay to play like Cal Clutterbuck or even Matt Cooke, as long as you are not dirty. Hockey is an emotional game. Sometimes you emotions get the best of you and you might need to sit out and take a break, there is nothing wrong with that. He usually comes back the next day or game with a clear mind.
As I write this he has drawn two penalties from Holy Angels's players and scored a goal.

A) he is a talented player and would play no matter what. He actually has skill.

B) the game I watched he faked getting speared 3 times and took dumb penalties. To me he acted like an idiot. But if that's what you like have at it.

He plays more like Ian lapierre or Steve ott. The difference is people tell me mishmash is a actually really talented.
