So your a former goalie coach of these two but felt the need to bash the Blaine tender from last years Final 54? ClassyStars67 wrote:Clearly with my posting history I am a "DAD"... Good try puck stopper... I am just a guy who has worked with both goalies at one point. They are fantastic kids! I hope to see them carry their teams to state this year! Bob got the job done last year getting the Bears through. I expect the same this year. Oh and Olson, he is a fantastic trumpet player! His family wouldn't be found anywhere near one of these boards. I was just making an observation of what I have seen out of these 2.ThePuckStopsHere wrote:Boy the Goalie Dads are out and about full force today. However, in the day and age of padding the stats and poor stat keeping it is only as good as the person marking them down. There should be an audit of stats submitted. I know Andover and Elk River are notorious for inflated shot totals... The inflation goes to both teams so its not like its unfair to the other team but on a statewide basis, it isn't right.
That being said... 2 of my favorites who are underrated are
Bob Parenteau out of WBL
Spencer Olson out of Anoka
In my opinion Parenteau should have been a National Camp guy last year and was the best AA Bantam goalie in the state last year. He clearly is having an impact on WBL successes this year.
Olson was a National Camp guy as a 15 year old, was snubbed from the 51s in favor of a lesser goalie in a kid from Blaine (Aus was the section coach). Anoka would not be where they are right now without him. He has consistantly stolen games. Also, to note the back up goalie has played in most of Anoka's games against inferior competition. Hence not allowing the ability to "Pad the Stats"
Those are my 2 young guns to keep an eye out for.Bitter party of one.
As for the "padding of stats' I didn't accuse Andover or Elk River of cheating, like I said in the original post they do it both ways, my point was both home rinks are a little quick on the trigger when it comes to shots on goal. I know every goalie I know looks forward to playing at Elk River because traditionally their shot totals are higher.
The padding of the stats comment I made was in reference to a team playing 2 goalies a first string guy who plays the better teams and a second string guy who plays the others. Anoka specifically takes the 2 man approach which doesn't allow the 1st string guy to "Pad the stats" against inferior competition.
Thanks

The interesting thing here is that Anoka was mentioned as playing 2 goalies, 1 against the good teams and 1 against the not so good teams so that one of them does not pad his stats by playing the infererior teams. If that is true (and I assume that it is) then the one who is playing the Edina's, LVNs, and etc of the hockey world comes out looking pretty rough and the one playing the lower end teams comes out looking good.
I am assuming that this is true since it was specifically named in this thread by somebody who claims to know it is true. If it is not true sorry that I used the name Anoka out of line here.
How does that help either one of them?

The private message sent to me was not from anyone that has been posting on this thread.
It was quite an intense private message, not at all relaxing.
It was obviously from an Elk River fan , who was probably relying on what other Elk River posters might have attributed something to me on this thread in error. Without fully reading the history of this thread, especially what you now just reposted, which hopefully clarifies things.
Im assuming the Elk River posters who are on this thread might know the person and have a chat with him. If they are going to send intense personal messages, at least send them to the right person. From there I will leave it up to Karl, Mitch and others to ensure things remain appropriate.

Anyway, the full discussion is back in August in this thread.
Im sure the Elk fans can see I only posed the question about who would be the likely goalies, nothing more since I knew nothing about the kids.
Ironic about any misunderstanding , because I had the Elks ranked high in my preseason list before it became popular, and made sure I went to several early season games to see the talent in person. Including the close win over Wayzata at Plymouth, one of the best games in any venue this year.

Sanryam,
I got a sincere standup direct message apology from the person, so I consider the matter closed.
Further, I got an appreciation for why a fairly blunt forum comment by a different individual was so difficult for him, in that it happened at a time of family medical crisis in addition to the normal stresses of a family raising high schoolers,
So I guess I would remind everyone there are real kids with real families with real situations behind all the postings about the student performances.

Congrats to Maddie Rooney on a great history making season, with 91% save percent and 2.8 average goals allowed. She matched that performance again in the 3 to 0 loss to Duluth East last night. She was remarkably consistent all year, she really didnt have a single blowout game . Consistency is whats its all about in that job, turning back the pressure and giving the team a chance to win every night.. She will do well at UMD,
Trust me, I'm not getting too excited. You were the one foaming at the mouth Sunday night, commenting on multiple threads when you thought there was a chance LN goalie could have potentially been ineligible.Bluelightspecial wrote:Same question on two threads. You definitely care, that's the funny part. No rise out of me, just find humor in your bitterness towards any LN success.Bluelightspecial wrote:Honestly I could care less. (I think youve got to adjust for some starters, and some full rotators, ie. Bemid, BSM, Blaine, Actually, most of those other names will be over .90 also, I recall.)
Anyway, funny how if you look back at beginning of the preseason how most of these names match up at the end of the season. Over time, many of their stats have risen, i.e Howg, Meyers, Heifort, so they are all almost up to or over 90%
Somebody double check me on this, I think I posted it before somewhere. The only two that actually have on ice state tourney experience are Dittmer and Howg, and neither favored to win their sections. In which case, the tourney starters will all be out there with the same set of fresh nerves

I just took the higher ranked goalie as starters and back ups aren't always known. All of these goalies are above 500 minutes as well. The Hub uses 40% to show up on their stats, all of these are right in there.WestMetro wrote:(I think youve got to adjust for some starters, and some full rotators, ie. You did post that somewhere, but I haven't found it.

Were there any other goalies not on top 20 team that jumped out to you when looking at the data?SidneysDogHouse wrote:WestMetro wrote:(I think youve got to adjust for some starters, and some full rotators, ie. Bemid, BSM, Blaine, Actually, most of those other names will be over .90 also, I recall.)
