Nice read! Yea. I'm pacing the floor right now in anticipation for tonight's game in Albertville. Lots of respect to STMA nation - they have arrived. Esse and the boys in purple......I'm pacing the floors..it's going to be a long day until game time. I just love this team in purple. A story....when we were in Elk River for hockey day last year. People at restaurants and hotels said to me on more than 1 occasion, " hey- you guys are from the north and opt up to AA hockey". I love it!ilovemesomehockey wrote:ODE to 7AA – Part Duece
The time has arrived for 7AA thrill
For St Francis, Forest Lake, and Andover, it’s all uphill
There’s mystery, for sure, within the pack
In the form of the Knights, whose fans don’t hold back
And for Grand Rapids fans…. An anxiety attack
For one never knows for sure, which team will arrive
A high scoring affair or another shut out for which Gerth must strive?
The Greyhound fans, they live and die by their past
They must, as this years team such a stark contrast
To the glory years of domination
But don’t tell that to them, they’ve already scheduled their March vacation
8th ranked Saints make the trek to the River
Where the Elks, we suspect, are sure to deliver
A lopsided score without apprehension
The only hope for the Saints is divine intervention
Rangers on the road to Grand Rapids, a familiar postseason journey
Post Garcia era, do they have a shot at the tourney?
It took overtime last year to get the job done
But the BAM line this year is ready to run & gun
It’s why they play the game, yeah, we’ve all heard the cliche
But as Suess once said, “your mountain is waiting so get on your way”
The greyhounds and huskies are sure to entertain
With Slammer, and Karl, and East on the (wagon) train
They met in December and skated to a tie
But the hounds aren’t too worried, for Randolph is sly
The rest of us wonder, a very close game?
Or can it be stolen, by the goalie grande dame?
And last, but not least, most mysterious of all
CEC vs STMA, sure to be a great brawl
The Knights may be as good as they say
But this time of year Esse and Company always come to play
Kniven, the eternal optimist, will watch in anticipation
For Bender and Newman to bring revengeful glory to Lumberjack nation
So there you have it folks…..
2015 7AA quarterfinals
Have fun & keep it classy!

I think most people would agree with you on that.Slammer wrote:Although i may seem likes d-bag at some points in the season because of my very obvious bias towards East, good luck to everyone during this playoff season. I hope the best team comes out and can represent 7AA well in March.
That's about as gushy as Hounds and Injuns are going to get this time of year.

Based on what? Remember when East was the favorite to win it all in 2012? They supposedly had a first round bye against Lakeville south but Justin Kloos and company had other thoughts. Or how about 2007 when GR faced powerhouse Edina in the quarters, given virtually no chance to win but they did. Elk River beat Rapids by 1 this year and tied East.Bayside Tigers wrote:lol Just kidding. But all joking aside, if Elk River isn't at state, this section has no chance to do any damage at The X.
Absolutely nothing is guaranteed in this section or at state.

lol I know, boys. I'm just messin with ya. This is a very unpredictable year, all around. Other than everyone gunning for LVN & Cake Town Hornets, you might as well fill up a Plinko board with 100 slots for every game played, 50 each team & place your bets. It's going to be a fun ride, and it all starts in just a few minutes. Couldn't be more excited.

Oh, I think we'll get pretty chummy if you beat East and Jawbreak River beats the Jacks. After all, you guys are still northern hockey.grindiangrad-80 wrote:I think most people would agree with you on that.Slammer wrote:Although i may seem likes d-bag at some points in the season because of my very obvious bias towards East, good luck to everyone during this playoff season. Rapids was fortunate to win tonight. To their credit they did pull out the win. They need to step up their game considerably if the hope to beat East. Bad penalties, tunovers in neutral ice and in their defensive zone and passing was not as good as I've seen. Looked like two average AA teams playing.

I'm not sure why Forest lake always plays Rapids so tough in the playoffs. It was a sloppy game by both sides. I thought Rapids looked much better defensively than offensively. Their passes were hitting Flakes skates or just off the mark a lot. This may have been the most physical they have been all year. Everyone was taking an extra step to make a physical presence. I like that aspect but they have to walk the line of being physical vs taking penalties. I think they took 4 or 5 penalties and killed them all off. Even though East is struggling on the pp it's never wise to be short handed.
Can't wait for Saturday! Expect both to be great games.

Well ladies, how do you like the way the bracket is turning out? Look familiar?? Us veterans wouldn't have it any other way, right?
Couldn't be more excited for the weekend. Glad the Orioles, or Bears, or whatever the orange team is pulled out the win. I don't think the Forest Flakes would have given the Bus too much of a fight. But with this classic DE GR game, it'll be a fun one. Make East work a little harder for that championship game, you know what I mean? They don't want a free B like they were Lakeville North anyways, right? Just the same with the Jacks over St. Michael. Let's be real for a minute, St. Michael would be scared out of their jockeys staring into the eyes of the Elks.

But Cloquet won't have that fear, they don't care. They come to kick some ---. Let's see who derails who in these train wrecks. It's gonna get malicious.
I can taste those Saturday afternoon nachos now.
