Hill Fans

Post by inthetwine »

I have sat in the same seats for 15 years in section 108. A lot of the seats near us go to the schools. Yesterday, many of the people around us were Hill fans, mainly adults. I have never seen such poor fan conduct in my life. All the Hill fans did was wine and complain. Everything from the players playing poorly, the referees, getting robbed by the MSHSL for having to play lakeville. Not one favorable comment about anything. I really had no favorite in the game, so I would clap when either team scored, but when clapping for a Lakeville score,I wad told by more than 1 Hill fan I was in a Hill section and I should move. As I said, these are my seats I have had for years. No wonder nobody likes Hill. They even bitched about what a poor job Lectner was doing. Unbelievable!!!

Sorry, but I'm calling BS. You have no rooting interest? 95 percent of your posts on this forum are about WBL. So to be clear, WBL is a team you clearly follow and have a deep interest in, and happens to be Hills biggest rival, and you have no rooting interest? Come on.

If true, it's disappointing and I'd hope to chalk it up to a vocal minority. I've attended a lot of HS hockey games in this state. I can say with all confidence that there are no whiners in sport bigger than hockey fans. Not saying that should excuse the poor behavior of fans.

I'm the opposite. Get a little wine in me and you'll never hear me complain!

As stated several times, they're at private school cuz they have issues. Your post is a perfect illustration.

What section, if you don't mind? If you sat next to 2 or 3 a**holes I'm sorry. But to generalize so far as to say those problems/issues/complaints (if true) extend to why these players and families enrolled here in the first place is silly. Observer I could give you the backstory on almost every player, and the boys out there last night didn't end up at HM for any of the "issues" you'd like to attribute to them. Did we hate getting this match-up? Yes. Do we feel like we've been persecuted or victims of an MSHSL/coach conspiracy? Come on. Let me tell ya SLP bitched about their match up just as much as we did. As did prob all the unseeded teams. This thread is pretty crappy.

What difference would have made, playing them in the first game or the final, Hill Murray never would of made it past Edina anyway. Face it Hill Murray isn't good enough to make it to the final dance this year anyway.

Nope. I think there are two teams in the state that are on a different tier than the rest.

1. Complaining about referees - there are a few calls in every game that go uncalled for your team or against your team. When you invest and want them to do well, you tend to complain about those calls especially when losing - that's hockey. I am sure the Lakeville fans had a few calls to complain about yesterday as well.

The other comments I am going to chalk that up to you sitting next to a few bad apples that don't come around to games until the team is at the state tournament. I sat in the same section and didn't hear or see anything that would call for you saying "I have never seen such poor fan conduct in my life" ...are you kidding, were you born yesterday? You have not been to many hockey games if that's your opinion. Or you just wanted an excuse to bash Hill-Murray.

As a proud alum, I thought it was a tough draw but you had to beat them at some point to win the tourney. I know the boys we're excited for that opportunity even if it didn't turn out how they wanted. We were a team this year that relied on defense and struggled to put the puck in the net against top opponents. We have some nice sophomores coming up and hopefully we will be back next year contending for a title. We are a proud community of alumni with a lot of pride. You don't have to bash the group for a few bad apples...

I was just referring to twine saying his Hill fan section-mates were complaining about playing LN first round. And I disagree that these players aren't good enough to play for the title. They just weren't good enough yesterday when it counted.
Now I just hope LN beats Edina.

I too was in section 108 surrounded by Hill fans. (Row 20). I was openly cheering for LN, and had a great time bantering back and forth with all the Hill fans. I heard none of the complaining.

Sure, I'm. a WBL fan, no denying that. But when WBL is not in the tourny, I'm just a tourny fan then.

complaining

Post by hipcheck »

So, do the Hill Murray Peewee and Bantam parents complain and whine too? Oops! Lost my thought there for awhile. Guess they can only do that at the high school level.
